There is a large percentage of the population that will NEVER EVER EVER vote for a democratic candidate or politician no matter what you say or do

Point blank Obamacare and Kentucky

I'm not sure what utopia y'all live in but keep up the wishful thinking

But y'all keep trashing us who have small differences but wanna make sure we get Biden a 2nd term and banish MAGA to hell where they belong.

ha!

At this point having Trump and Dr oz would be no worse than the corporate stooge super centrist Voltron of Biden and fetterman.

I’m sure my good comrades in here will agree.

In unrelated news, how much longer do you guys think alito and Thomas plan to be on the SC?

I'm sorry but how many 10k plate dinners did Obama hold? Or go to Hollywood to fundraise? Or Pelosi and everyone else? In exclusive, swanky banquet halls with Spielberg or Clooney? Or Martha's Vineyard and shyt?

Hell Obama walked back his single payer health system so the insurance industry would back his bill and they'd get BILLIONS of revenue.

Every single politician in Congress is beholden to a lobbyist, business corporation or cause.

Nikkas need to quit acting like when they voting it's the Virgin Mary and shyt and they politician money is more pure and shyt.

All I want is a democratic majority by any means necessary.

If one or two or three of them got some shyt that I don't agree with but we keep the majority I don't care.

Politics is messy dirty and survival of the fittest and if we managed to get the majority and we keep it that's all that matters.

Could care less if folks don't pass a progressive test. Just win. We would do much better with a Mitch or Karl Rove than this shyt. You know, coldblooded dudes who would run over they own family for a win.

We both want 3 points. But y'all only want a 3 pointer. I'm fine with a basket and a free throw.

It's nonsensical to claim that was the only alternative when we watched him repeatedly change his position in real time based on his mood that day and which lobbyists had visited him that morning.

Why do you think that's relevant? :dead:

It's the bills that DIDN'T pass because he REFUSED to vote for them that matter.

Manchin tanked paid family leave despite several female Dem senators begging him to consider it, and let the child tax credit expire despite it being one of the Democrats' most popular policies.
What don’t y’all understand about the infrastructure bill, Biden Judges and the inflation reduction act don’t get passed without Manchin

He’s Dem in a deep red state. That’s what it looks like.

Everyone doesn’t have to be progressive, I don’t get how y’all criticize Manchin when the alternative is Maga :mindblown:

You are out of your fukking mind

A Trump presidency with a Republican congress came with a 2 trillion dollar tax cut for the rich and 3 conservative Supreme Court justices

Show me the Biden equivalent with non progressive Dems in congress

Paid family leave polled at 73% in 2021. Manchin opposing it had nothing to do with being a Dem in a red state.

I’m a major proponent of paid family leave, but it seems you all are talking past one another.

One person is saying, you shouldn’t be surprised that someone who opposed paid family leave voted against it.

The other is saying, well it’s popular therefore they should agree with it.

The point on him being a dem in a red state is that he isn’t going to hold the same positions.

Liberals seems to vacillate between voting on your principles and only voting for what’s popular depending on who it is.

Should AOC support the compromise immigration bill because it polls well? :pachaha:

No the point is it didn't matter that he was a Dem in a red state. His donors didn't want it, so they killed it. Same thing with Sinema and the minimum wage.

Hell, Manchin was against the ARP until he got outflanked by Jim Justice.

Ok we didn’t get paid family leave but what did we get?

a new wealth tax for corporations

‘’lower insulin cost

cap on out of pocket prescription drugs cost

additional ACA subsides to make it more affordable

The largest investment in clean energy ever

IRS funding to go after the wealthy

This is what I mean about losing the plot. You get NONE of this without Manchin

Anything that goes against progressives is written off as what their donors want.

Which donor?

So we're just gonna act like Sinema wasn't going to parties bragging to donors about killing the $15 minimum wage
Which donor?
Probably these ones

The bill wasn’t perfect therefore it was a bad bill.

I enjoy the discussion about what’s popular, it it only seems to be a talking point when we discuss dems.

Which in some ways belies the point made by Manchin. Congress is broken. Bills should be able to be passed outside of reconciliation.

Should our elected officials accept the reality and just push forward. I’d say yes, but I don’t believe there always has to be some nefarious reason behind why an institutionalist behaves like an institutionalist.

We’re talking about ma chin. Let’s stay on topic. Or Fetterman if we’re based on the thread.

I don’t think bringing Sinema backs your point.

What value are. Donors to a guy who is retiring? :why:

Fact is Manchin is just a jackass who thinks people need to pull themselves up by their bootstraps and is also fiscally conservative.

I can disagree with his vote, but I don’t think we can in 2024 pretend the argument he used about superfluous government spending will lead to increased inflation as a myth.
