Koalabama and the Cosmos
This.

Last time I checked, Jesus wasn't rich nor were the disciples that carried on his message. Being poor is not a moral or spiritual failing.

Jesus also welcomed in followers no matter the situation, versus this Tim Allen head b*stard that was seething at letting folks that lost their homes inside of his mega church.

Okay. So how did he become prosperous? What is his actual job that he does for a living? :jbhmm:

Oh wait he doesn't have one? He just sells dreams to people and gets them to hand over their hard earned money? :patrice:

He actually isn’t wrong.

I’m definitely critical of the “prosperity” preachers because they seem very materialistic and seem to stray from the Word with their teachings and guidance, but TMH never said that His ppl were supposed to be poor and struggle. Part of doing the right thing and living properly is getting the fruit of your labor.

Politicians/High society benefit from telling the commoners that our rewards are in heaven/the afterlife. That’s why they get the higher ups in religion to spread that message to their parishioners. Priests, bishops, pastors, rabbis (etc) engaging in all sorts of immoral sexual behavior, driving the best cars, million dollar homes (sometimes owned by their church), rubbing shoulders with the “elite” (TD Jakes attending Diddy’s events, for example), living comfortable lives while the people in the pews aren’t helped or encouraged to move up in life, fight for what they need, etc.

The test for us mere mortals is to remain humble, honest, and control our urges when we achieve material success.

Using a re-written book to manipulate people into giving you money is the ultimate hustle :wow:
Preach about a man who washed peoples feet and kicked it with prostitutes but live in a $100 Million mansions :wow:

A book of hearsay, legends and fairytales controlling people’s daily lives is crazy work.

If it makes you happy, more power to you…but a lot of these people use it for nefarious purposes.

Matthew 19:20-22

20 The young man saith unto him, All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet?

21 Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.

22 But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions.

What he's doing here is taking an extreme position to deflect criticism.

Nobody is saying he should be walking around hungry.

They're asking why in a world where there are children dying of starvation and illness, Joel Osteen is wearing suits worth enough money to feed those kids for months.

They're asking why when people were looking for sanctuary he refused to let them stay in his church.

They're asking why he needs to fly in first class or on a private jet.

And his response is "what?! you want me to be walking around with holes in my shoes?!" No Joel. You have more than you could ever use and far more than you need whilst representing a religion that literally demands that its followers give back to the poor and work towards equality. He's heightening class divide while pretending he just "happens" to have millions of dollars.
Now this is legitimate criticism.

Shutting the doors of his church was a horrible look and not something to forget.

He might not be the best person for this message, but in general? I’m not mad.

More of a focus on striving to create a good life for yourself and your family, and giving back to your community.

but didn't jesus say "it's easier for a camel to get through the eye of a needle, than a rich man to get into heaven"?

i'm surprised that Osteen wants to fukk with his chances like this :lupe:
its because "heaven" and "hell" as separate realms is actually a gnostic/manichaeist/pagan take

and isnt actually based on judaism

the idea of afterlife is nonsensical when considering sexual reproduction

heaven is a "firmament" separating waters above the earth from waters below the earth. IE its tangible reality

if you read the new testament backwards its pagans discovering judaism
