He actually isn’t wrong.
I’m definitely critical of the “prosperity” preachers because they seem very materialistic and seem to stray from the Word with their teachings and guidance, but TMH never said that His ppl were supposed to be poor and struggle. Part of doing the right thing and living properly is getting the fruit of your labor.
Politicians/High society benefit from telling the commoners that our rewards are in heaven/the afterlife. That’s why they get the higher ups in religion to spread that message to their parishioners. Priests, bishops, pastors, rabbis (etc) engaging in all sorts of immoral sexual behavior, driving the best cars, million dollar homes (sometimes owned by their church), rubbing shoulders with the “elite” (TD Jakes attending Diddy’s events, for example), living comfortable lives while the people in the pews aren’t helped or encouraged to move up in life, fight for what they need, etc.
The test for us mere mortals is to remain humble, honest, and control our urges when we achieve material success.
