Congrats to him.
Well deserved. I like Jokic but his fans, stans, and a segment of the media became insufferable with their “great white hope” rallying energy. He's a great player but has become overrated by casuals and player centric “fans”.
I knew Embiid was going to win not just because of voter fatigue but due to him truly deserving the award, should've won the 2021 MVP IMO
.
There wasn't much else Embiid needed to do to win MVP, he already solidified his claim the past two seasons, and to get snubbed again would've been shocking. Besides this season Joel's impact for the 76ers is bigger than Jokic and the Nuggets, unlike the previous two seasons where Joker was a “one man team” for Denver due to Murray and Porter Jr's absence, the Nuggets have a good enough team that could hold it's own for awhile without him on the court. You can't say the same for the Sixers without Joel especially with Harden being a shell of himself
.
It's funny how Embiid is held to a higher standard in terms of needing to succeed in the playoffs while Jokic has been as equally unsuccessful as Joel, which is another reason why if he would've a 3rd MVP it'd been criminal and I don't wanna hear about that fluke WCF run in the bubble, it reminds me of how people bring up the Dame and Blazers WCF trip or the Atlanta Hawks fluke run a few seasons ago.
