Yeah I laugh when people try to say Brady or Peyton are better than Joe Montana. Joe won 4 chips in a much tougher league. Yeah he has some playoff losses but outside of the 87 Vikings game (and that loss was really because no one could guard Anthony Carter) San Fran lost to better teams like the 83 Redskins and those L's in the playoffs to the Giants

Yeah except for the Vikings they lost to the eventual SB champions. No shame in that. You had to be legendary to beat Joe.

Joe is still the greatest but Tom is right there breathing down his neck. Even with the loss yesterday. The man is still 4-2 in Super Bowls.

What are you talking bout?

That conversation is DEAD. Joe is unblemished in the bowl. 4-0 is better then 3-2.

You nikkas have absolutely no common sense.

Jesus Christ.

The NFL changed the rules to make it easier for QB's today. So posting regular season numbers please keep in mind the difference in the rules today as it was 20 years ago.

Please be fair and consider that

Man please. You couldn't chuck receivers past five yards 20 year ago.

For most of Peyton's and Brady's careers they played under the same rules.

I saw Joe go 1-3 against those Giants teams back then.

The AFC being so shytty back then, everyone knew the real Super Bowls took place in the NFC divisional and conference championships where Joes record is full of pockmarks.

I hate when people say Joe Montana had a lot of help, like he's supposed to be punished for having a great front office during the 80's.

Besides he won his first 2 titles without Jerry Rice/John Taylor, won his first Super Bowl without Roger Craig.

Those first 2 Super Bowl teams he was on were young teams that just developed into championship caliber teams. Montana and Dwight Clark were only in their 3rd seasons that first Super Bowl year, Ronnie Lott and Eric Wright were both rookies. Those teams had nowhere near the talent the future SF title teams would have

Those Giants teams are some of the greatest in league history, especially on defense. Im not knocking Montana for going 1-3 up against those teams.

I agreed after 04 or so, the NFL put an emphasis on calling contact after 5 yards. The rule has always been in place but never enforced until Polian called the league out on it.

Why view it as a "punishment"?

I mean, it is what it is. He had a HOF coach and teammates. It counts as an asset to his rings.

There's no shame in losing to Parcells Giants who were a mini dynasty themselves, or the skins of that time.

Man....they always enforced it. They bytched about the Pats getting away with it. What Law and them did was outside the norm and wasn't getting called.

You niqqas from like pre 04 was on some Mel Blount shyt.

Everyone has help. Get this weak shyt outta here.

NOBODY does it alone.

Lame as hell I swear.

So everyone is surround by HOFers? On both sides of the ball?

:heh:

The proof is pretty clear. Look at the history.

You're not gonna tell me Dan Marino would NEVER have won a SB with Rice, Taylor, Brent Jones, Craig, Rathman, that o-line. You're just not.

Sorry.

But instead, Marino has ZERO.
