This is just my opinion after watching these two avidly the last decade.

Say what you want but I can say after their roughly ten years in the league Joe Flacco is the better quarterback all around. He's a winner and a playmaker and more importantly wins when it counts in the playoffs or division games. Matt Ryan is excellent at putting up great numbers and winning regular season games but he's just too much of a choke artist when the time counts. Flacco has never had a true top five wide receiver in the league unlike matt ryan who has had julio arguably a top three since he's been in the league.

Matt ryan has choked so much in the playoffs it isn't even funny. The pressure of the big games just gets to him. He could never carry a team on his back like any of the great quarterbacks of this era. Flacco will be remembered as the best quarterback in the ravens modern era who gave greats like lewis, suggs, and ed reed a last chance to earn a victory together. The way flacco beat the ravens greatest enemies and rivals the patriots, the steelers and denver (IE peyton manning who knocked us out the PO's sooo many times) to get to the superbowl was awe inspiring and magical. Matt Ryan will go down in history as a good quarterback but someone who squandered many opportunities and offensive talent, he will be forgotten in 20 years.

If Flacco played for atlanta he would have been in at least 2 superbowls. Watching them play Matt Ryan is a better thrower, more accurate, can get numbers. But Flacco is the superior leader, can be trusted with a playoff game, a better game manager, and isn't a choke artist. Atlanta would likely be superbowl champions if they had put their backup QB in the fourth quarter.

At the end of the day whats the use of being thought of a better quarterback if you don't facilitate wins on your teams and you singlehandly threw away a superbowl.

Flacco don't lead squat. He just runs whatever plays he's told to run, when the offensive series is done he sits on the sideline and awaits the next series. He's basically RoboCop
He won't make anyone on the team better, but If everything around him is right he's a beast and he's too robotic to be scared. That's why I think he would have been a monster in the Sb with that Falcons offense

Outside of 2012 Flacco is as mediocre in the playoffs as the regular season
Sadly yeah. He still doesn't go through his progressions. He still throws into double coverage. He still struggles with intermediate accuracy. He still throws off his back foot when he isn't being pressured. He still throws to the check down before the play can develop. He still doesn't identify when a blitz is coming. I think each of the last two years (he was st the very least in 2015) he was the worst in the league facing the blitz. He even struggles to read a defense at all, as evidenced by that pick he threw against the eagles this year where he threw it to the linebacker in the red zone when the guy dropped into coverage and sat in his spot the entire play. Joe apparently had no idea he would be there or never saw him at all.

Sometimes Joe does look like a dumbass forreal.

Part of that I feel like was the OFF COOR coaching carousel the ravens had and quality coaches like Jim caldwell or Gary Kubiak leaving. He's never had 3 years to develop with a quality system and quality playmakers around him. Harbaugh I feel like is also to blame. He never imo has been a true head coach. Harbaugh doesn't like outspoken players and slowly has alienated a lot from the team over the years and changed the ID of the team. I could never imagine him giving the reigns to the team like manning had.

Flacco also has had to face some vicious defenses in the AFC North with the Bengals and Steelers.

But that deep arm. :ohlawd:

And that playoff confidence and reliability. :blessed:

The one thing I give Flacco is....He swagged over the Ravens when they wouldn't sign him to a contract til the end of the season then he went on an epic run and brought the Super Bowl home and then they had to basically overpay for his services going forward :mjlol:
That contract screwed us out of making any big off season free agent splashes or resigning any drafted talent.

The ravens literally lose a huge portion of our quality draft class to free agency.

His rookie year was impressive considering he turned around a 5-11 team made it to the playoffs. I think he only had derrick mason at WO too.

He made it to the Afc divisional championship too. That troy polamalu pick six and willis macghee clark hit was crushing. That game renewed the Steelers ravens rivalry.

Overall compared to Matt Ryan in the playoffs joe flacco blows him out the water before this year matt ryan had been one and done three years in a row and won only one game. Disgusting. :scust:

Dafuq? Flacco is still mediocre as hell. He throws a great deep ball, has all the physical ability in the world, and has hot streaks from time to time (like those playoffs) that highlight what he could be if he had any level of consistency. But he doesn't. He lacks all the mental intangibles that makes guys like Br*dy great. He can't be consistent, he goes through long lulls where he plays like absolute shyt - lacking short/intermediate accuracy, missing blitzes, throwing into coverage, checking down to his RB every other play. There are two Flaccos - great or fukking horrible and usually the fukking horrible guy wins out.

If you take out both of their fluke seasons (12 for Flacco and this year for Ryan), I still trust Ryan more as a QB, but he ain't much better to be honest. He's another guy that can move the chains, and he actually is more consistent than Flacco from my observations, but his shortcomings are different. I think he lacks a killer instinct. I have never been concerned about about my team facing a Matt Ryan led team because I know, despite his ability to make great throws and move the chains, he's not going to bury you. He'll make a key mistake and/or just play scared

Matty Ice was straight up scared in that super bowl. Who wants a QB that is scared in the biggest games?

Flacco has that Eli idgaf demeanor :yeshrug:
