This is tricky. It’s not even a question of if Joe is a woman beater. He is. It was documented in real time. Multiple women.

The problem tho is he already got his social media comeuppance. It just wasn’t a lot there to ‘cancel’: when we first found out he was just ‘the pump it up guy’. Then he was just the reality star.

But now that he’s the podcast taste maker big media presence I guess we supposed to rehash this?! It just doesn’t make sense. That R word is a problem. ‘Resurface’. It ain’t even genuine. Ain’t shyt ‘resurface’ people just want another pound of flesh.

Like are we retrying all these cases when each generation finds a tik tok about it?! That’s why women NEED to go the legal route so there can be a finite judgement handed down. Give him 20 years. Fine by me. But every 5 years ‘yall remember he beat that girl right ‘ ain’t it
It's the Chris Brown effect. Same Guy, same thing. We know Chris abused Karreuche, we know the Rihanna shyt...

The shyt where people choose when, and when not, to fukk with someone, the inconsistency is where the line has to be drawn. If you don't fukk with them because of it, just like you wouldn't fukk with someone for any other reason, stand on that. But these two (Budden, CB), they were shytted on when their shyt arose. Yes they had supporters too, but they were shytted on...

I'm really passionate on this topic, I've had two relationships with women (my first BM, and a woman I dated in my early 20s) that I displayed violence. I took my L's publicly in both the legal system and the public opinion of those who knew me at the time...

What I will say is Budden speaking up could in fact be because he's a changed man, but he was the wrong messenger. If he was gonna speak on Diddy, because Budden himself is a public figure, he should have acknowledged his own prior sins, given the cancel culture era we are in...

But I am with you, people choosing to just bring up his history ever so often, he was shytted on in the moment, and I'm sure it hurt his career in some form or other. We all knew this about him...

Unrelated, but I remain shocked at how many people apparently didn't know Puff had a reputation as a woman beater. shyt wasn't new news...

Though I’ll say, Joe is likely a woman beating piece of shyt, but these conversations require more nuance that the current climate and internet are willing to give it though :hubie:

Not even trying to “victim blame”, but I’ve witnessed enough toxic relationships to know that victim and aggressor aren’t blanket terms applicable in all instances
right

Hiphop trying to deal with serious issues like this :snoop: Then you got people/bots bringing up all kinds of shyt to discredit Joe and the women that are coming out against him. Like it’ll be interesting to see what would happen if every rapper got canceled for some shyt they did back in the day. We are coming up on 25 years for these 2000’s rappers.. they better all be on :lupe: status.
If we just stay on topic, the list of rappers alleged to have abused a woman they were with at some point or other, is a LONG one:

Biggie
Nipsey
Dre
Kendrick
Suge
Trey Songz is an alleged rapist
50
Meek
Pun

Gonna be even more men if we start talking about the pre-rap era of brothers our parents and grandparents listened to...

I don't even have the time to try to think of all the names that this has come up about over the years. And honestly it's a reflection of life in general, many (certainly not all) of us regular guys have shown abusive tendencies in one relationship or other at some point in our lives. My fathers did. I did. And many, many guys I've known over the course of my near-35 years have...

I love the conversation but for guys who've been held accountable in The Culture, there's no real need to continue bringing up their history unless you stand on not supporting their art completely and are consistent with applying that value, and/or it's believed they are still on that wave currently...

There's an argument to be made Budden was never held fully accountable for the history of women he hurt. Puff for sure was never held accountable for his shyt, he's definitely fair game...

But I do think at a certain point, if we already KNEW certain things and these guys paid their debt, unless you 100% stand on not supporting anyone with those allegations, just send your love to women currently going thru this and stop the witch hunting, inconsistent shyt...

Almost all these nikkas got skeletons in their closet, because almost all of us Regular Guys also have shyt that we'd be uncomfortable publicly being shared about our behavior in a past life (even if it wasn't physical abuse)...

Facts too, which is why, when these stories come out, it's okay to take them with caution. I'd never flat out call a woman a liar, because 99% of the time the man has some culpability, even if he wasn't the initiator. But these situations are hardly cut and dry and in MANY of these situations, the woman isn't void of accountability...

I grew by acknowledging my own role and that Rodney was wrong in what Rodney did. But it absolutely does NOT mean the women in those situations were innocent or victimized and its all the more reason why, unless you are sure a woman was a legit victim, cats SHOULD believe some abuse occurred in some form or fashion but remain neutral in their commentary because we don't know exactly how these situations unfolded...

Alot of our dad's, grandfathers, brothers, and homies who we adore and think have never been in situations like these, have never put their hands on a woman, absolutely have, they just arent on the public BBQ pit or we arent old enough to know their misgivings...

As a man its our accountability to avoid these situations and keep our hands to ourselves but alot of our female homies, moms, grandmas, sisters were on some wild shyt too, even if the perception impacts the man worse...

I remember when Esther first came on the scene. She was already married at like 19 or 20. I think her husband was jealous of her being around all these rappers and they got divorced. Basically she went from the frying pan into the fire.
