Fore pop had to get that knee surgery
Guess that effected his bladder
So when Jackie called me nothin' else really mattered
Was scared, sounded frantic, i ain't want no parts of that
Said the ambulance came, might be a heart attack
Was leavin' work nearly cryin' on the phone
I'm in rush hour traffic, just seen you dyin' alone
Look, I just pictured all the places that we never went
All the texts that were never sent
All the words we never spoke
Time we never shared, rewind so we can repair
Such an inspiration, all the holes that you dug through
Then you got released, God was watchin' above you

:damn:

Buddens man...

It's weird, I've been bumping couple of other albums while waiting for this to drop. And while I'm listening to those albums, they have those certain "deep" songs, which feel like such when I'm listening to those albums.

But all those damn near seem shallow when listening to this... there's levels to this shyt. There's so-called "introspective artists" and then there is Budden.

"I'd rather make the pen bleed to see the feeling you get" -- Slaughtermouse

Nobody does it like Joey. NOBODY. Dude is a master of the deep. It's like he's willing to go to places within himself that 99% of ppl are afraid to go. We always say we want that Joe (because if there's any better, it's not many), but he's gotta hate it. It's gotta be rough for him going to that place, which is why I can see it being his last, as he's been hinting at on Twitter the past month or so.

Anyways, I waited, and waited, and waited for the release (listened to nothing that's been leaked), so I finally got to listen to it last night, and :wow:. Just wow. I hadn't listened to SLL in a bit, but knew I had heard 'Only Human' before. That's my only gripe, and the song is dope, so it's not even a gripe. Beats fit the album damn near perfectly, so don't understand the issue there. Joe has always been ridiculous with the pen, so you knew that woudn't be an issue, and the content is that classic Mood God shyt. If he's ending his solo career on this note (please no, if you're lurking Joe), it's a hell of a way to go out.

Regular Joe has returned...... :mjcry:

We all wanted Joey to go through them harsh realities so we could get some fire ass music (he even addresses it)....

but he's past all that now. Dude literally sounds like he's emotionally burned out. He's way past that hurt and angry Joey we saw on Mood Muzik 2.

Whereas before it sounded like he would be fighting the shyt, it sounds like he wearing that shyt like a coat now.

I really don't like throwing around race comparisons, but if Joey was looking like Cage or Slug or Yela, he'd be filling up arenas and there'd be millions of folks holding up lighters and cell phones and crying at his shows and heralding him as the most emotionally honest and therapeutic MC of all time...

cause he really do be speaking from a place we all be at, but we really can't just..... let the shyt show. Cause it makes us look weak.

He earned my money with this one. Album of the Year.

I mean, how can we not.. this album basically can be an answer to question why majority of us love Budden's music. It's not like Budden fans were calling his last album classic or even dope. Not like we are Future or Drake stans who blindly like everything he's ever done. This is the same dude who dropped Touch & Go and Porno Star, lmao...

His EP SLL was a step to right direction and this is damn near like SLL on steroids.
