If he's going with a black woman, why pick Stacy Abrams over someone who has experience as a U.S. Senator and ran for president like Kamala? :gucci: And no offense but Kamala is more attractive, you absolutely have to take that into consideration unfortunately. :francis:
:hubie:I didn’t want to touch this, but since you opened it up. Stacey is not visually appealing. This is a problem.

Damn ya'll cold blooded :damn:

I said the same thing. It really superficial but it is a factor. Besides Trump most modern presidents looked like they were in decent shape for their age. Also, while Stacey did great with Black women, she didn’t do as good as you would expect with Black male voters. I always maintained that she would of been better off running for senate. Also her Connection to Bloomberg was a really bad look.

I don’t want to keep saying the same thing, but Kamala would be a terrible pick. A lot of Black people don’t fukk with Kamala. I don’t think she would significantly increase Black turnout, and she is a liability because of her AG record. Plus she have a White husband.

I keep telling people Ayanna Pressley would be the best choice (Besides Tammy Duckworth). She is politically savvy and have the personality to attract a wide range of Black voters.

He doesn't have high black turnout in the bag tho. People keep forgetting, Hillary won the black vote, but turnout was down from 2012, which played a role in her losing. Biden choosing a white woman over a black woman after black voters just saved his ass in the primaries could potentially lower turnout.

You have a point:ehh:

"Black voters in battleground states would be more enthusiastic about voting for Joe Biden in November if he were to choose an African American woman as a running mate, a new poll shows.

Biden is already highly popular with black voters, according to the poll of 800 black voters conducted for BlackPAC, a progressive-leaning advocacy group. But 55 percent of African American voters said they would be more excited to turn out or vote for Biden if he were to pick a black woman to join his ticket, the poll showed. However, 27 percent said the pick made no difference because they would stick with Biden.

Biden has repeatedly said he’ll choose the best candidate who’s ready to be president on Day One, if need be. He has said he has about a dozen potential picks in mind, among them California Sen. Kamala Harris, the only African American woman who ran against him in the primary.

The poll shows 50 percent of those surveyed view Harris favorably and 18 percent unfavorably, giving her a net favorability rating of 32 percentage points.

Georgia Democrats’ 2016 gubernatorial nominee Stacy Abrams, whom Biden advisers have also discussed as a running mate, has a net favorability rating of 36 points. Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms, a Biden surrogate in Georgia and with black voters, is lesser-known than Harris and Abrams and has a net favorability rating of 17 points, as does Florida Rep. Val Demings."

Also, she got 79% of the Black vote in 2016 (against another Democrat Loretta Sanchez). There isn't evidence that Black voters on a wide scale have a problem with Kamala :manny:.

I think the only choices that are strategically valuable, and make sense, regarding Biden's age, and policy, experience, are Harris and Warren. I think the others maybe won't hurt, but don't help, and some will hurt.

The worst thing he could do is a bland, Tim Kaine pick. Damper enthusiasm, and keeps the base stagnant.

I agree with you on Abrams. However, Terri Sewell would be a terrible pick.

She's boring and bland as hell :mjlol:

She doesn’t seem boring to me. She speaks well and is qualified. Kamala may be more exciting but she tends to put her foot in her mouth and turn people off. Her record is also an issue.

Very flimsy evidence.

First a 50 percent favorable rating isn’t really that good. Especially since she was a presidential candidate. Kamala getting 79 percent of the Black vote in California against a Latina Democratic doesn’t really say much. Biden will get anywhere from 85- 90 percent of the Black vote in November regardless of his running mate. Almost any Democratic nominee would get this percentage. It is about turnout. Will Kamala with her horrible AG record be able to turnout Black voters who stayed at home in Milwaukee, Michigan, Ohio, and Pennsylvania in 2016?

In the Primaries Kamala spited with Black voters after the first debate. But after her AG record became more known her support among Black voters went down. When she left the race her Black support was only at 5 percent.

This is anecdotal evidence but most Black people I know don’t really like her. Including Black women. The fact that she is mixed and have a White husband plays a part in that (along with her AG record). Obama would of never been as popular with Black people if he had a white wife. Michelle was a major plus for him.

I still see no evidence that Kamala would be a positive on the ticket. Also if exploited right, she could become a major liability. She actually is a decent senator. I think that is were she should remain.

what's more important for the election? midwestern suburban white women crossover or black people turnout?

Is there a candidate outside of Michelle Obama that gets us both?
It's both and... however, if I had to pick one it would be suburban white people because of the electoral college.

Most of the serious names mentioned for VP are going to be fine for this cycle, although Abrams is the most perplexing. All of these women are competent and that's the trait people are going to be most concerned with given Biden's age. It'll come down to negative partisanship and whether or not Trump can get the economy looking as if it's recovering by election day.

Given that, there are plenty of reasons to be cautiously optimistic about November... We still have to work for it though.

There's always been a difference between Bernie bros/zealots and Sanders supporters.
