The VP pick, while somewhat important for optics, won't change much in terms of the actual numbers.

I think this is def true. Historically VP picks don't really move the needle that much.

Biden's VP pick has become a proxy for 2024 since it's pretty likely he's a one term president IMO.

charlotte is larger than 5 states :unimpressed:
Think about what I'm saying here.

Charlotte is a bigger city in a swing state, currently has a black mayor, and the state also has a democratic governor.

No rational person is suggesting we should elevate Vi Lyles to VP because it would swing the election because it's an absurd proposition. :mjlol:

even more reason it should be harris, she could actually run as a 8 year president in 2024. warren would be like 75, kamala would be like 60

Uncertain grounds
Also Elizabeth Warren is bringing in more voters than a Kamala pick would bring. Anyone voting for Biden/Kamala was already going to vote for Biden regardless of his VP. Warren brings in progressive voters who were on the fence of either staying home or voting for Biden.

not a warren fan but reluctantly agree

This thread is starting to look exactly like the presidential primary thread

Bernie and warren fans pushing Kamala and Warren.

Warren ain’t happening y’all need to let that go.

If Biden picks harris or Val, it’ll come down to if he thinks he can flip fa or
Fla

she would. But that wouldn’t help us win one bit. She gets more ppl in dark blue states in dark blue cities to show up.

she won’t help one iota in any state where it counts.

Progressives live in Milwaukee, Philly and Detroit. A lot of them sat out in 2016 which costed us.

I mean I’m sure there’s a few. But the vast majority of ppl that sat out or switched to trump in those cities, wouldn’t identify themselves as progressives.

The Top 10 women Joe Biden might pick as vice president - CNNPolitics

200305084832-val-demings-01-large-169.jpg

Florida Rep. Val Demings
3. Val Demings: Even before Floyd's death and the ongoing reverberations from it, this Florida House member was getting rave reviews about her potential as a ticket-mate for Biden. But now consider what Demings would do to the ticket: A black former police chief of a major southern city (Orlando) who knows the issues within the law enforcement community vis a vis police brutality intimately. (Previous ranking 5)

Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms

2. Keisha Lance Bottoms: Lance Bottoms' speech last Friday night -- amid violent protests in Atlanta -- was a moment. She was empathetic. Tough. And deeply human. I've had the Atlanta mayor on my list almost since the start of the VP process but I was never sure she would break into the top tier. Boy, was I wrong. (Previous ranking: 6)

California Sen. Kamala Harris
1. Kamala Harris: For all that's changed on the list this week, the California senator's positioning has not. If anything, Harris seems even more likely to be the pick now as she, at 55, is a generation younger than Biden but also has a wealth of experience -- as California attorney general and a senator -- that we know Biden values. (Previous ranking: 1)
