I don’t think the surge in crime is solely based on economic factors

I thinks it’s mostly due to the pandemic

Kids that weren’t doing shyt in school at least were spending their energy and time there

It’s just one of the reason I thought schools should be open and they should’ve been testing kids like they test pro athletes

It's pretty iffy as to whether economic downturns actually lead to an increase in crime in the USA. Since WW2 there's been little to no evidence to support it, recessions generally haven't affected long-term crime trends at all.

I think idle time during the pandemic, various psychological factors, and retaliatory police negligence are bigger factors.
