Jody was a bytch
Melvin was wylin out when he fought Jody when they found the weed in the garden. "DEAL WITH HIM BEFORE I KILL HIM!" "NO LIL nikka YOU DON'T NEED TO BE LIKE ME, YOU COULD NEVER BE LIKE ME"Nah Jody was very detailed in his discovery
Also I think it adds to Melvin’s Character, to showcase how Melvin grew as man, he did time, was in the streets and I guess he was previously abusive but he was supposed to be determined to change and trying to not fall into old habits
I didn't get this vibe at all.The movie touches on the Oedipus complex Jody has.
Single mothers can end up treating their son as their “man” and use them for validation.
There is an entire generation who had the opportunity to watch Baby Boy every day. BET had that movie on damn near a continuous loop in the mid 2000s.The rate at which this movie gets mentioned/discussed on here
Don't even get me started on the edited for content and language version of Baby Boy, that's it's own thread entirelyThere is an entire generation who had the opportunity to watch Baby Boy every day. BET had that movie on damn near a continuous loop in the mid 2000s.
Don't forget he raped nikkas too. He raped nikkasNah Jody was very detailed in his discovery

Do do realize the naked cooking eggs shyt was on purpose right?…For how he acted towards Melvin, but let’s be real: What son is gonna be cool with their mom dating an ex-convict who beat women?
Placing myself in his shoes, I might of not have been as confrontational, but I could definitely understand where he was coming from.
Honestly, his mom doesn’t called out enough for her behavior. She lowkey used Jody as the man of the house till she got boyfriends.
This movie is so layered because you can go from being on Jody’s, to Melvin’s, and keep going back and forth till you see the middle ground.
Sure he was momma raised but he should've had pride that was the problem. He was ok living at his momma's house, not having any money no ambition. no heart and he was ok with his mom's being banged out damn near in his presence. It shows how families can be fukked and how cycles start. Jody was in no way ready to live on his own but his mother was trying to push him out the house
He was in no way ready to be a dad either but that’s another issue
Yeah I wonder why BET pushed this movie so hard? The rate at which this movie gets mentioned/discussed on here
I remember the fiasco of them presenting the basic cable version of The Wire it was so bad they had to cancel it.Don't even get me started on the edited for content and language version of Baby Boy, that's it's own thread entirely
I get that it was a dramedy, but there were parts where Singleton(RIP) wanted it to clearly be serious and it was just ridiculously funnyGreatest unintentional comedy of all time
