This should be a precursor to a shift in consciousness for many of us. Things that we either tell ourselves is OK or delude ourselves into thinking we can't do anything about have reached a tipping point for our most vulnerable. And I think while I am a forgiving person, I don't think abusers should just be allowed to apologize and move on, rather there must be some type of penance before they come back, rather than going back to normal. Blampied is a good example of that, and he's a complete saint compared to some of the shyt we're seeing happened to these girls (and some boys) in the industry going by these stories. But he had to completely fade away from prominence to do his work before coming back, and I at least respect that he had enough sense to leave the game for a bit and work on himself while the furore died down.
Power makes people do funny shyt, and if they don't check themselves and surround themselves with people who will help to hold them accountable, they're liable to use that power to abuse people with less power than them. It's a story as old as time, and more insidious by the day. And especially when sex is involved, women have to bear the brunt. The problem IMO is that we (I'm talking men here) don't do much about it. We don't take enough preventative measures and we excuse a lot of shyt that leads to abuse happening. Not to go all feminist or anything, but we should be stopping shyt at the root - changing mindsets towards how we deal with these power dynamics, particularly with women, and how we can stop our peers from slipping deeper into unacceptable modes of behaviour. That's the only way this shyt will stop. It's not enough to be disgusted. We need to be braver and check our people - yeah they'll call you a simp but who cares
