This case is particularly insidious because when Cornette ran OVW, it was on a two-tier system. There were the Ortons, Batistas, and Lesnars that WWE was paying OVW to train. And then there were the local guys who actually paid their money for training and to be on the developmental TV in hopes of getting fed up to WWE. It seems like the guys who are speaking out now are the more vulnerable second class of students.

Which fits the profile of people who abuse their position to fulfill their sexual fantasies. If Jimmy and Stacey were just on AdultFriendFinder, or whatever swingers were doing in 2002, that would be one thing - nobody's business. They were using (on the one hand) the promise of more exposure to high profile people and (on the other) the threat of having your Kentucky athletic commission license pulled by their pals in the office to coerce trainees.

(This is probably the only post I make on all this. Being confronted with all this stuff has been heavy on my own psyche, and I'm taking a little break from wrestling.)
I don't blame you. Nearly every online community I'm a part of at the moment is confronting a huge amount of historic sexual abuse to an almost ubiquitous amount of men, and it's all a bit unsavoury for even a hard-faced b*stard like me to read so much of, so I'd imagine it's heavy for others.

I feel you on that, seeing wrestling for what it is can take a toll on you :mjcry:

It's not just wrestling. It's your local music scene. It's your local science-fiction group. It's anywhere predators have access to vulnerable people. The stories that hit me the hardest were the ones about trainees being manipulated by their mentors and teachers. And people knowing and laughing it off as "That's just how he is." Guys, if you're in any kind of group or activity, please keep an eye out. The complicit silence is what allows these things to keep happening.

Already doing it. Yes, it is everywhere. Nearly every girl I know (and some boys too) has a story.

As far as the bold goes I feel you. Between racists getting their white hoods yanked off and abusers getting outed publishing has been particularly messy these last couple of weeks. Lots of agents, authors, and editors getting put on the summer jam screen. Some folks are on apology tours while other folks are threatening lawsuits, it's mess. And in publishing secrecy and *be nice* are sacrosanct so I have no idea how any of these exposals are gonna play out in the end. Last time this happened with some agents, they just resigned from certain professional orgs but kept right on working at their agencies like nothing happened or quit and got picked up by new agencies.
