So you're telling me if Sanchez went 17 TD's and 5 int's the Jets wouldn't be happy with that?
That would get the Jets back to the playoffs I should have prefaced it by saying the Jets would love a performance like Smith's last year.
I agree Smith on NYJ without Harbaugh's tutelage would be a disaster.
But we`ll see how much of a bum he is this year, I`d bet my life he outperforms Sanchez.
Of course you'd bet your life that he outperforms Sanchez. Alex is going into his 8th year and Sanchez is going into his 4th. Alex has a top defense and special teams...he also has far more weapons. Why make such a "bold" prediction when things are not even?
I'm telling you averaging 5.1 yards in the air per throw and still winning games is something most qbs are capable of doing.
Let's not make this into an arguement over Alex Smith. He was the king of checkdowns last year.
A prolific checkdown passer.
A titan of throwing the checkdown pass.
The king of hitting a running back or TE.....on the checkdown.
A 40% passer in the red zone.
Please.....don't do this.
I'm not bigging up Sanchez.
You're bigging up Alex Smith.....and his ability to launch check down passes.
Yep, dude is captain checkdown. He's always been that way.
alex smith reminds me of david garrard. 9ners will be drafting a guy in a year or 2
Garrard is and was better, but that's a fair assessment.
The comebacks weren't a lot of checkdown, check the Eagles game he was throwing into the teeth of the defense down 21 points to come back and win.
I don't think Sanchez ever had a comeback like that. And giving the defense more credit is silly, you really give the D more credit for a 21 point comeback in the second half?
He is a checkdown champion. Dude was completing 5 yard passes in the air and letting dudes run for a big chunk of yards. Hunter did that in the Eagles game. Gore beasted as well. Alex made a few passes but lets not act like they came back on the strength of his arm.
His 6 comebacks were some of the most fraudulent shyt I've seen. I think Tebow had 5 last year. The only one that was impressive to me was the NO comeback....and that was only by a touchdown. He was still impressive there. Being down by 2 handing the ball off a bunch of times and then completing a 5 yard pass to set your kicker up for a field goal is not something to boast about.
Smith will not beat anyone with his arm. Harbs has us believing that a QB does not have to make plays...5 yards/pass is OK. Having the worst 3rd down efficiency is good, as long as you don't turn the ball over
