I feel a sort of ways of debating third year Sanchez being better than a say third year Alex Smith.

I really feel that it's a futile argument all around. For all of the safe throws, Alex was a 40% passer in the red zone last season.

At the end of the day...it's Alex SMith and Mark Sanchez....really...Alex SMith and Mark Sanchez.

:manny:
fair enough :manny::cheers:

So you're telling me if Sanchez went 17 TD's and 5 int's the Jets wouldn't be happy with that?

That would get the Jets back to the playoffs I should have prefaced it by saying the Jets would love a performance like Smith's last year.

I agree Smith on NYJ without Harbaugh's tutelage would be a disaster.

But we`ll see how much of a bum he is this year, I`d bet my life he outperforms Sanchez.

Of course you'd bet your life that he outperforms Sanchez. Alex is going into his 8th year and Sanchez is going into his 4th. Alex has a top defense and special teams...he also has far more weapons. Why make such a "bold" prediction when things are not even?

I'm telling you averaging 5.1 yards in the air per throw and still winning games is something most qbs are capable of doing.

Let's not make this into an arguement over Alex Smith. He was the king of checkdowns last year.

A prolific checkdown passer.

A titan of throwing the checkdown pass.

The king of hitting a running back or TE.....on the checkdown.

A 40% passer in the red zone.

Please.....don't do this.

I'm not bigging up Sanchez.

You're bigging up Alex Smith.....and his ability to launch check down passes.

Yep, dude is captain checkdown. He's always been that way.

alex smith reminds me of david garrard. 9ners will be drafting a guy in a year or 2

Garrard is and was better, but that's a fair assessment.

The comebacks weren't a lot of checkdown, check the Eagles game he was throwing into the teeth of the defense down 21 points to come back and win.

I don't think Sanchez ever had a comeback like that. And giving the defense more credit is silly, you really give the D more credit for a 21 point comeback in the second half?

He is a checkdown champion. Dude was completing 5 yard passes in the air and letting dudes run for a big chunk of yards. Hunter did that in the Eagles game. Gore beasted as well. Alex made a few passes but lets not act like they came back on the strength of his arm.

His 6 comebacks were some of the most fraudulent shyt I've seen. I think Tebow had 5 last year. The only one that was impressive to me was the NO comeback....and that was only by a touchdown. He was still impressive there. Being down by 2 handing the ball off a bunch of times and then completing a 5 yard pass to set your kicker up for a field goal is not something to boast about.

Smith will not beat anyone with his arm. Harbs has us believing that a QB does not have to make plays...5 yards/pass is OK. Having the worst 3rd down efficiency is good, as long as you don't turn the ball over

Sanchez is a lost cause. Not entirely his fault...but this dude looks done. Dont even get the sense he really enjoys football anymore. Mentally, he looks like hes checked out. This is dating back to last season...he's got the same demeanor on the field

last nights picks 6 was so Penningtonesque....just gross. That's how Chad led people to believe he was a starting QB. High completetion %....overshadowing awful dump offs and brutal pick 6's.

Sanchez is damaged goods

I was at the game cursing out Wayne Hunter when the opportunity arose. So I was cussing him out all night

Hunter is awful but its more Sanchez. Its over. Tebow will be playing by week 4.

The Denver pick and last nights were so Pennington like I wanted to throw up.

Worked for Eli last season :manny:
The Giants FO never setup Eli for disaster though...

Despite all of Fez shortcomings his biggest problem is that he plays for the Jets...One the most inept and moronic franchises in NA sports...

There is no way in hell this dude will be successful this season...It's just not possible with this personnel and with what the Jets want to do on offense...I expect Tebow in there by week 4...The rumblings already started to get louder after last nights debacle...

the Jets FO is a bunch of idiots...but Sanchez is the biggest problem with the team. If his first read is covered its over.

Manning
Brees
Brady
Cutler
Vick
Romo
Manning
Smith
Rivers
Rothlisberger
Newton
Flacco
Ryan
Stafford
Schaub
Rodgers
Dalton
Luck
Matt Moore
Palmer
Freeman

Are all better than him for sure.

So Alex Smith is better than Philip Rivers, Big Ben, Cam, Matt Ryan & Stafford (Dawgs :king:) now?

Doggie you know i'm no fan of Fez but let's be reality...

A prime Peyton Manning could not be successful with this Jets offense...

The personnel on offense is THAT BAD...

Tannenbaum should be fired...

i agree im still in shock they brought back the same team on offense. Its almost as if Rex is trying to win with a terrible offense to tell the world "I told you so"

You leave me to question your football acumen AGAIN if you put sanchez lack of QB play as a problem ahead of that hemmorage at RT.

Again, you leave me to question your football acumen.

At this point, it is plain stupid to believe any Qb can succeed playing behind that line and a RT who gives up FOUR SACKS in the FIRST HALF.
