Alicia Keys was signed to So So Def in the late 90's. I think "Girlfriend", "Lil Drummer Boy", and the song on the first Men In Black soundtrack is all that came of her time with So So Def. He was instrumental in her success, but making her a star is a reach. "Fallin" made her a star and he didn't produce that song. She was on J Records when that came out.

I was wondering what’s JD best beat for most his fans?

Or what’s his most known hit he produced? Money ain’t a thing with Jay z?

i know he’s great at writing and discovering/managing talent, etc....

And he got a good ear and knows music history but does he really have hip hop anthems and bangers like Kanye, Pharrell, primo etc?

Or is he just an all around behind the scenes creator

In the realm of Hip Hop, JD isn't really looked at as elite because he mostly just laced some great singles. He helmed albums from Da Brat, Kriss Kross, and his own albums, but nothing noteworthy aside from Life In 1472 and Funkdafied. You're not really going to find these big anthems from JD aside from "Welcome To Atlanta", "Money Ain't A Thang", "Jump" (Kriss Kross), or something from Brat's first album.

Now, R&B is a different story because there's a plethora of music that he did in that field that is noteworthy. Overall, JD is one of the best producers ever given his catalog.

JD's definitely a product of nepotism. His dad threw him into the industry.

But he's always been one of the most talented people, that never really got the respect they deserved.

He's a really dope producer. He can basically do it all, and has a serious ear for melody and song structure. I think his problem was that he always tried to hop on trends or just straight up bite whatever the hot thing at the time was. He was getting clowned like crazy for biting Dre and Snoop when he started jacking them for his shyt with Brat and Kriss Kross. shyt like that changed how people saw him. But he should've been praised to the level of dudes like Dallas Austin back when he was popping. He had the kinda talent to do more, with much better artists. His Mariah shyt was untouchable. That's the type of shyt he should've been known for and kept doing.
