Jermaine Dupri is a biting ass producer

He's talented but he's a biter.

That brother was never original when it came to his Hip Hop shyt

He rode Dr. Dre's style in the 90's. Him and the Da Brat were the bootleg Dr. Dre and Snoop. Da Brat was even rhyming just like Snoop on her first album

He copied Puffy's style for long time too in the 90's.

Now when it comes to his r&b music, he's good there and as a songwriter for r&b.

But his hip hop shyt is was always following whatever sound was popular at the time

Damn!!!!!!!!!!! :picard:

I ain't know he had produced this joint, I remember the song but I just assumed Kanye had produced it cause it sounded so much like his shyt around that time and like I said, I wasn't listening to no Jermaine Hip Hop produced songs around that time other than whatever singles at the time were on the radio and because it's on the radio.

Only songs that Jermaine was producing around that time (2000's) that I was listening to was his R&B produced joints, stuff like Jagged Edge and the Mariah joints.

I think his R&B work is his best work, because he's original with that.

And Jermaine is a great songwriter when it comes to the R&B shyt

It's just with his Hip Hop shyt, he bites so much and rides the waves of whatever is the "in" sound at the time.

But I remember the 90's vividly, and how he bit Dr. Dre and Puff.

Yeah, "Let Me Hold You Down" was produced by JD and No I.D. Came full circle. He gave Kanye his first major credit on "Turn It Out" on Life In 1472. Then connected with Kanye's mentor for this track.

His music has a thematic quality and it's always loud and clear with a layer of thickness on it

Alicia Keys was signed to So So Def in the late 90's. I think "Girlfriend", "Lil Drummer Boy", and the song on the first Men In Black soundtrack is all that came of her time with So So Def. He was instrumental in her success, but making her a star is a reach. "Fallin" made her a star and he didn't produce that song. She was on J Records when that came out.
I know Anthony Hamilton was signed to SSD. He had Trina Broussard (got probably the greatest cover of any Mini Ripperton song ever), Mr. Black, ROC and didn't do shyt w/ any of them. I know for sho that ROC and Trina ghostwrote a gang of shyt on SSD
