THIS THREAD IS ABOUT RACE, DUDE! DON'T BE MAD AT HOLLYWOOD FOR TAKING YOUR STATEMENT TO ITS LOGICAL CONCLUSION, MEAN GENE!

Im a poor black man and I got 98th percentile :camby:

The entire education system is rigged to make you do the same shyt your parents did, as I said in another thread AP is the new tracking. Its college, jail, or minimum wage. Poor urban(usually black) districts send you to jail(1/ 4 BM graduate in buffalo), "white trash" types get minimum wage, middle class and up go to college

Well there is the obvious stuff like if you speak improper english youre penalized for that, even though you can understand concepts and read well. Its more of a question by question basis. This bias does not exist on the math section.

The best example was an analogy question which took coxy(from crew/rowing) as an answer. People from the inner city dont know wtf a coxy is. There are plenty of academic articles on this im no expert. But the smart hood people I know mostly always did worse than the dumb middle class kids.

I saw a guy on Youtube talk about this....how one of the answers to the test questions was marsh. Most black folk from the inner city have no fukkin idea what a marsh is. We know what a swamp is. A marsh though...what the fukk is that? :usure:

the fundamental reason why there are so few black students is because black people have a culture that doesnt emphasize education, i think what is important is addressing that culture

I have to agree with this. I'm tired of hearing about "black" students' demands. What about STUDENTS' demands. We need to STOP always identifying ourselves by our race. :snoop: yes, we are black, but some people act as if that is all we are. I support AA, but only if it helps black people who have proven themselves capable of enduring the academic rigors of college. I know racism is real, and some form of affirmative action is absolutely necessary. HOWEVER, AA should only help black people whose scholastic excellence is still thwarted by racism.

But just accepting students because they're black? Nah. :camby:

I think people, not necessarily especially black , are more concerned with where they go to college than what they do. I know I was a victim of this. I was so depressed because I didnt get into usc or stanford(cac guidance counselors didnt send my transcript) and couldnt afford UCLA or UCSB. This is ridiculous looking back. The only thing I cared about was the 'myth of fit'. College ended up working for me as a big fish in a small pond. I still get to go to a huge school.

If we focused more on educational plans we wouldn't care so much about the schools themselves. Like a smart young kid that might not be Michigan material should apply to like Michigan state and have a good ass plan.
