The moment I read they included a threat with their demands, they lost me. :yeshrug:

What is so inherently great about diversity? :wtf:

The threat is basically sit-ins....lol It is what we used to do there ALL the time. But this time they actually have a point because today's enrollment for students of color especially Black students is quite shameful. I'm ashamed of my school because of it. And Gratz is another spoiled entitled white bytch from Lansing who couldn't get in...so fukk her with a sick dikk.

fighting for AA is a waste of time, the fundamental reason why there are so fewle t black students is because black people have a culture that doesnt emphasize education, i think what is important is addressing that culture

Thats false. Black people have a culture of not investing into themselves, and that's why we suffer because there is NO BLACK COMMUNITY

Black people with money look down on the blacks without it, thats the problem, instead of investing in the poor communities, and raising them up.
You know white private schools have great facilities and tools for kids to learn, its because the people in their community donate money to insure the school is always able to have these things.

Also opening a school is a GREAT BUSINESS, if black people knew you could make way more money opening schools, instead of clubs, and weak ass clothing lines would be making some progress.

:patrice: How exactly is fewer black students the fault of the school?

Before the lawsuit the school actually recruited in urban areas. Flint, Saginaw, and Kalamazoo. Meaning they would send people from KCP or even the admissions office down there to talk to interested kids. MSU has done this FOREVER. But, before the lawsuit, this was a common practice. After the lawsuit....nope. Started a real negative view in the school in the eyes of young minorities, "I'm not good enough to get in". The school gave up and so did the kids. It's a shame. I went there and graduated, went back and looked at the campus and it is really different when it comes to students of color.

this isn't ACTUALLY racism though.

Yes it is. Generally only racist cacs and their acolytes care more about affirmative action than the well-being of minorities. Jennifer Gratz is lionized all over the racist blogosphere. Your liberal naivete is epic. You think this is about fairness when in truth it is about scorn and racism. Soon, like a good liberal slave, you'll be saying there's no such thing as black American. Or maybe you'll contend that affirmative action isn't "humanist". Perhaps you'll say affirmative action should only target socioeconomic class because that's "fairer". And so on and so forth. You should go read the National Review and see how your intellectual honest conservative counterparts make convuluted arguments to justify their culture and ethnic superiority.:troll:

This actually isn't true.

While people of color, individually and as groups, have been helped by affirmative action in the subsequent years, data and studies suggest women — white women in particular — have benefited disproportionately. According to one study, in 1995, 6 million women, the majority of whom were white, had jobs they wouldn’t have otherwise held but for affirmative action.

Another study shows that women made greater gains in employment at companies that do business with the federal government, which are therefore subject to federal affirmative-action requirements, than in other companies — with female employment rising 15.2% at federal contractors but only 2.2% elsewhere. And the women working for federal-contractor companies also held higher positions and were paid better.

My main problem with stories like this is that by now we as blacks need to realize that whatever pie upper middle class whites and wealthy blacks have does not include a slice for us. The SAT admissions test is culturally biased and one can not even get into a school this good having taken only the classes offered in a poor black neighborhood school.

This is why HBCU is so important. We need our own infrastructure and educational system. Instead of asking the government to take action these students could be in communities advocating for education. This is not a problem government will fix for us.

A vocal minority including subsets of every racial group will always hate us. Make em mad by increasing the enrollment to over representation without their help.

And I agree that MLK's entire message has been co opted by the post racial movement

The reason why there are fewer black students is because black students arent getting the extra boost in admissions that they once were

And if black students do get and decide not to go and go to another school, it's fine imo

But bottom line if we as black people want to have more black students in universities, we as black people need to change out culture to make it more focused on academics, that way we are not dependent on the whims of administrations

What is ignored in these discussions over and over again is any black student that can get into michigan , UCB, UCLA, caliber of school can get into a much richer private school with aa.
