But you are talking as an adult. As a child, very few people in this thread would have done that which is why its funny to hear people talk about pressing him for advice, internships, etc. I know for a fact at that age I wasn't even thinking about college or the future. I had worry about things in the present and I'm sure a lot of those kids are in the same boat.
Very good point. I agree, I'm speaking from hindsight. When I was those kids' age, I wasn't thinking that far into the future, either.
However, where I live (I'm in the DMV) some of the more affluent (cac) high schools regularly have networking events for the students.
I just hope that some of the young brehs and brehettes (we only saw a few seconds and some of the students probably did try to talk to Mr. Bezos) took advantage of the opportunity.

Say breh, humor me for a moment and explain how you would go from being a kid in that high school classroom to an amazon intern making a 100K?

Simple, if coding is something they are interested on then just like any sport or anything else they just need to get good at it..not even that just show hunger and potential

Ik not talking just to talk, because I'm a software engineer myself that has worked in silicon valley but now I'm in nyc. The asian, white and indian kids out west were getting internships left and right...some didnt even go to college.

Amazon, google, linkedin, apple and others all have apprenticeship programs just for people that show a willingness to learn and get better(you also have to work very hard) because programmers dont really stay at a company for a long time and these companies need people

IBM, Amazon, and Microsoft Now Have Apprenticeship Programs – Technical Education Post

Amazon is going to train 100,000 workers in these 6 areas of tech

I received a google and apple interview just from randomly talking to someone that works for the companies on the train so I'm just smh when I see people in this thread saying bezo's isnt a big deal

No one is saying to shuck and jive but life is a game and people who dont at it well just get left behind imo

Folks act as if a chance conversation, or advice from a successful person will mean instant success for yourself. Please.

You either have the drive, or ingenuity to attain greatness, or you don't. And, if you got it, you've already hit the books doing research, networking events, etc. to achieve your goals.

What's Bezos going to tell a student? Keep working hard? Hit me up after class, I'm a line up a six figure position for you? :comeon:

Unless one of those kids has a brilliant opportunity that's going to further line Bezos pockets, that man going to do what he came to do, and that's capitalize on a photo op.

Records show that fewer than 1 percent of students passed the math portion of a 2019 national standardized test administered by the District, and about 16 percent passed the English portion.
:picard::hhh:

jesus christ

I thought we had bad test scores in the south and in my district, but thats fukking ridiculous
some major changes need to be made up there.

Fam... these kids haven't even graduated high school yet, and you're suggesting they flat out ask Bezos for a job? The folks you're talking about older, more experienced, and hungry for a job (hence shooting their shot at random).

Second, unless it's for an executive position, why would Bezos be involved in hiring a grunt?

If these kids have the desire, then they'll eventually land that gig with a tech company. Bezos handout not required.

:russ: nikkas on here think Jeff will just give out jobs just because you asked. If you don't got anything to give, folks with money wan nothing with you. Dude was there to take a photo with some unprivileged youth, saying how he supports black people doing coding. And then go back to his business that absolutely does very little to support stem education or make actual effort to hire nonwhite/nonasian people.

If anyone else famous showed up, they would of been there to give out money or opportunity for college.

1. I never mentioned a job, just an opportunity. Plus there are a few high school students that already have a job at companies like amazon being a programmer

2. Again, how many people can say that they have met one of the most powerful people in the world. Jeff wiener the ceo of LinkedIn and a major investor for a tech school I attended in sf has bought in people from my school for an interview just cause of a convo and some got hired

Prestigious Holberton School for Software Engineering Adds Docker, Upwork and CloudNOW Executives as Trustees, LinkedIn CEO as Advisor and Investor

LinkedIn CEO to Join Holberton as Investing Advisor - Holberton

I'm just gonna say this...these asian, white and indian cats use any and every kind of connection they could get...I'm not understanding the downplaying of meeting the owner of a top 5 company These indian asian and white cats that I work with dont concern theirselves about a hand out..a lot of them got the job because who they know

No one person should have all that wealth. I think Bezos can donate a million dollars to every citizen in this country and it wouldn't even tickle him. :mjcry:

You think Jeff Bezos is out here handing out lucrative deals on these school trips? He's just smiling and waving. At best you'll get a photo op or a canned speech about how "you as the youth are the future" at such an event.
Exactly :heh:

He just out here taking flicks with underprivileged minority youth.
