no knock, but why would a young nikka buy a Lauryn Hill album? I can't imagine teenage dudes listening to r&B songs by girls about men like that.
My brother bought that tape (he was 19) why? Cause she proved her self. Riding high off THE SCORE,she came back with fire solo songs,so people bought into her as an artist. Believed in her and she delivered

I don't know, I was a kid and didn't listen to Jay Z at the time and I heard that album everywhere. Online I hear that it was trash, but to me it's a good album that you can play all the way through :manny:.

I never know the original hype surrounding these albums when I first start listening to them because I was in 4th grade when that shyt dropped.
ALthough it's not as good as say BP1,vol2 was a classic off impact alone. When you think of 98',it's obe of those albums that are in the forefront of your mind. Especially if you were in your teens-early adulthood. I was 18 when it dropped and driving etc. Hardknock life, can i get a,jigga what jigga who, money aint a thing, money cash hoez meant too much, for this album's impact to be downplayed. Those are just the marquee songs. Then you got if i should die, ride or die,it's alright,a week ago,etc etc. Funny thing is internet weirdos place AG above it,but the impact and marquee songs on Vol2 meant way more during it's run than AG,WAYYYY MORE and not even close. AG is a quality album but mainly remembered because he promoted it off the movie that it really had nothing to do wit at all

This nikka think Laurynh is Beyonce lool.

lol. nah man, y'all making it seem like she had a full fledge rap album. I heard Doo Wop, Lost Ones and X Factor and that shyt wasn't what I wanted to hear as a 14 year old, I was more into more masculine rap. She had talent no doubt and there is nothing wrong with listening to R&B, but hell, I thought Kim and Foxy had a few dope verses but no way was i about to purchase a female rapper CD when there were more better male rappers. I'm assuming most of ya;; were around the same age as me, 14 year olds are close minded, come on, lol.

True a lot of the music is geared to females(obviously) but i feel the neo soul artists like Lauryn Hill, Erykah Badu are more close to traditional rap stylistically and sonically than say a pop/rnb artist like Beyonce. But i hear what you saying in regards to purchasing a female rap/rnb cd at that age.
