OMG I swear some of you dudes analytical skills are non-existent. Firstly, there is an argument to be made about a couple years, 2001 for example. But forget that. Where your analytical skills fail you is that Jay was ALWAYS at worst in the Top 3 of any given year. While some of the rappers who may have been #1 totally disappeared from the top 10. Its called CONSISTENCY AND LONGEVITY. Who cares if you was #1 one year and then 5 years later you fell so far niqqaz thought you died? Thats why Jay is the GOAT.
All this is true, but doesn't it add credence to him being the Triple H of rap :jbhmm:

Is this about sells or who’s hot.

Because Taylor swift had the sells but didn’t matter when kendrick and drake had their battle.

And that proves impact is better than sells.
What's Jay's impact? Riding waves, biting Biggie, and marrying Beyonce? :mjlol:

This is the absolute truth

nikkas call him the GOAT when he was never the actual greatest any year he was active. He’s the Carmelo Anthony of rap. He’s always been good but never the best. Imagine calling a nikka the greatest boxer and he never won a title.

True. I like Jay but he most def had “The Machine” behind him with def jam pouring payola into hot 97 thats why Nas went on the tirade and power 105 emerged and broke up their urban monopoly in NY. He lost and they named the 5pm spot The Takeover cause he was butt hurt. Drake is Jay-Z’s final Form

WTF you don't think puff and other acts were involved in this.

Come on lol

Jay-z had a partnership with def jam and is a boss.

Drake is not a boss

was never the best selling rapper in any year that's facts :manny:

Neither was Nas ....

Still both are considered some of the greatest and most influential artist of all time

At least Jay can say he is also one of the best selling rappers of all time ....with the exception of Em Ye and Drake, who has been as consistent?

This right here. At least in NJ. That album went my crazy in the hood
I was staying in North Carolina at time and Vol 2 and 3 were crazy also
That was the hottest album out at the time and he was the hottest rapper out when the hard knock life video dropped.I feel like it was fall time though cuz it was kinda cold I was rocking Nike gloves and goggles and dropped the homies off then took this girl to my crib and did x all night and smashed.That’s..yeah.That’s when that album came out.

This is truly one hell of a thing. Like when compared to Nas, it’s laughable to say jayz is even a remote second to nas. Like. Yikes. Nas tells a story with a melodious spirit. Jayz is just yapping. Eminem exposed him on that sound track. Mr dogoodilist too bad you couldn’t … I’ll slap anyone that dare disagree. Fucck u. Hoe
