This is right, Jay was never the hottest rapper
consistency and longevity is what makes him one of the GOATS

Every year since his 1st album, these were the hottest rappers

96 Tupac
97 Biggie
98 Dmx
99 Dmx
00 eminem
01 Nelly
02 eminem
03 50 cent
04 50 cent
05 Ti
06 Lil wayne
07 kanye
08 lil wayne

anything after that doesn't matter and 09 on wards ushered in the new era where Jay wasn't close to number 1 at all

I guess being a third owner of you're own successful label, don't cut enough checks lmao

Jay took a budget cut to be president of Def Jam lol

  • Sold-out concerts: Jay-Z performed a series of eight sold-out concerts at the Barclays Center in 2012, marking the opening of the newly built stadium.

Heads for some reason hate Jay as if he threw up the Roc over their mother's/first girlfriend's heads when they were topping dude off or something.

It's that personal it seems like.

Literally arguing over ish from damn near 30 years ago.

Did you feel like that where you said this to other people when jay was in his prime? I hate it when people start saying this shyt when someone isnt so popular anymore. More than likely cant be themselves around other people because theyre scared of not "fitting in" or not "being accepted" or "being looked down on". Personally, i always assumed someone was a casual rap fan if they said they were a jay z fan to be honest.

JAYZ was never the hottest rapper should not be that hot of a take. He wasn't.

However, his continued popularity and longetivity has made him one of the most iconic rappers.

As a measure: I think we should at least attempt to provide a definition for what makes someone the "hottest rapper." Perhaps: a period of time (between 3 months and a year) where they're the highest selling, or have the highest spread of sales, of their peers, in their specific genre.

Example: from the last quarter of 2014 through the first quarter of 2016, Fetty Wap was undeniably the hottest rapper. His singles went diamond, six times platinum, and three times platinum, and the album went three times platinum.

1998-03 I remember X, Em, Nelly, 50, Rule, Jay being the hottest acts of their respective year(s). Maybe Jay wasn’t the #1 of each year but definitely top 3.
