He reminds me of Russ Westbrook where his legacy isn’t as good because he stuck around and was trash later in his career.

If he ducked off after theater of the mind people woulda remembered him more fondly. Word of Mouf, chicken n beer were nice, red light district was his commercial album.

He should be remembered more fondly but thecoli hates fun

Def Jam didn't develop Luda. Ludacris was already Ludacris before a Def Jam signed him. "Fat Rabbit" dropped like two years before the Def Jam deal and most of Back For The First Time was created before the deal. Incognegro was basically that album.

Luda was also a radio DJ which was the reason why he was getting beats from Timbaland, Neptunes, and Organized Noize. Dude basically used a cheat code to get on.

Breh, that isn't a cheat code. He networked, which is what smart people do in any profession to get put on. You might as well delete and discredit every rapper if you saying he used his platform as a DJ to get put on. Come onm

Luda brought personality, humor and character into Hip Hop.

In the early 2000's, Luda was killing a lot of features. One of his best guest verses was on Nas' Made You Look remix

Luda is one of the many emcees that put ATL on the map

Say what you say about Luda, Ludacris undisputedly is a legend.

no question...any one who thinks otherwise just doesnt like him

he had a helluva run in his prime

It is to me..

Luda already had relationships with the industry.

Either way, Luda had the game in a cobra clutch from 2000-2006.

Those are relationships he built from working at a radio station. What was he supposed to do in his situation knowing he was a rapper? Sit there and not freestyle for Organized Noize, Timbaland, The Neptunes, and Jermaine Dupri when they came through. NONE of those people signed him by the way. He still had to grind to get to where he was at even with those names behind him.

Theater of the Mind was the album I felt like he was actually trying to show he could rap

I don't think he has it in him to do anymore than this

Y'all only talking about his first album and runaway love is wild tho :russ:

Edit: been ages since I heard this :wow: Wayne throwing punches every line gave nikkas seizures back in them days

I love that album.

This is the reason. South hate was at an all-time high because New York hadn't lost it's grip on Hip-Hop, yet.
Stop it. Busta wasn’t even looked at on the East Coast as a top 5 sort of rapper, and Luda was more popular than him up here during his peak. People never take comical rappers seriously. Everyone knows Luda can rap.
