that being said, Tony Buzbee is a bizarre figure - he is a successful trial attorney, a funder of right-wing politicians in Texas (who are known to give favors), an alcoholic, and a failed politician -

he is not the attorney I would have picked to represent me against Diddy, that's for sure

New York passes the Survivor’s Act after Weinstein and pretty much every famous dude from the 80s and 90s has been sued under it or given a demand letter and agreed to a settlement so it was never filed.

Dude either came up to Jay and Jay said fukk off or he knows how long Jay’s money is so he is trying to embarrass him in public to quickly settle. Also, with Diddy locked up and his money low - anyone filing against him likely isn’t seeing bread any time soon until his criminal case is resolved so you add someone else with money in Jay. Buzbee was likely looking for someone who would associate someone else famous as being there and he got someone to bite. The fact that this wasn’t in the original complaint when Jay is the one who allegedly actually raped her makes the whole thing seem suspect.

As I thought @ajnapoleon just posted what I thought happened. Being the in-house lawyer for a major company - I get 2 of those a week and I got to decide whether to settle or say fukk you see me in court.

That was my main thought as well.

Naming the VMA party date as well narrows things SIGNIFICANTLY, but the this is a huge issues for "spoilation of evidence" - who still has the calendars, planners, email invites, and local party information from that specific day?

Who has the alibi information?

Cases this old are typically outside the statute of limitations for a reason - most people don't have as concrete a memory for something 20+ years ago as they'd like to believe. There are parties from law school that I don't remember and wouldn't be able to pinpoint to.

Most people won't have their personal calendar... but as a celebrity/ performer they may have banking info .... there are probably definitely pics that can corroborate dates and times .... as well as the labels or even home owners (that allow use of their property for rent) could have information.

Shyt... slim chance there could be payphone records or surveillance vid as well.

One thing that should be interesting over the coming weeks is if it was a house party that both Diddy and Jay-Z were at a lot of people are going to be able to remember that. I'm curious to see what we learn. Also I think everyone would remember a 13 year old that shouldn't be there at the party. If those two things check out then this story certainly could be true.
