Did you even read the article you posted?

"The NFL currently requires the principal franchise owner to have a 30% stake in the team, and the entire ownership group can be no more than 24 people in total. The organization also places limits on how much debt can be used to acquire a team; it recently increased that amount from $500 million to $1 billion."

To be the primary owner (in this case Jeff bezos) you would need to own at minimum 30% of the team. How Bezos pays for that that 30% doesn't matter. The only limitation is that all the owners can only finance up to up to 1 billion dollars of the purchase price. So if a team was 3 billion dollars you could be the primary owner by paying 900 million. And if you had 20 other minority owners all bringing cash in theory you could finance that 900 million and not need cash since its less than the 1 billion dollar limit.

So lets say the team cost 5 billion. In this case besos doesnt need any finaincing and can pay for his 80% of the team in cash (4 billion). If he partnered with Jay that means Jay could finaince up to the 1 billion dollar limit if he wanted to and get the remaianing 20% minority stake without needing to bring any cash to the table. In theory Besos could give Jay a private loan for the billion himself if he wanted to and work out whatever deal he wanted.

This is why guys like Diddy, Jay etc talk about owning teams. It's not really out of reach for them like yall think it is. Yall just too dumb to know how these things work. Owning just means you are the primary owner and in the nfl you only need to own 30% to be a primary owner and can have 24 minority partners if you wanted. NBA teams are cheaper than nfl teams and many are under 1.5 billion (I dont know the % threshold for being an NBA primary owner though but im sure similar rules apply).

Yes it is out of reach for the Black entertainers because they don’t have the assets to borrow against to purchase a team. If the debt limit is $1 billion and teams are selling for over $4 billion, where are these entertainers going to get the financing? The white billionaires they’re competing against have billions of dollars in shares or major ownership stakes of other assets to pledge as collateral in seeking financing. And each member of an ownership group needs to get approved by existing owners. The process of selling to Black entertainers would take longer and they can’t bid as much. But I guess you know more than Bloomberg about the topic.

Nobody in here is admiring the Waltons or Bezos. They're just pointing out that Jay in this type of deal would be being used for his image. He would be rewarded well for it financially, but thats what would be happening.

We all saw the Nets situation, they pretended he was an owner to help them get over image wise in a historically Black neighborhood that they were about to gentrify the fukk out of. Then it was later revealed that his ownership stake had been 1/15th of 1%. not even a single percent but a fifteenth of a percent. And I'm sure he still did very very well on that deal financially, but they gentrified the fukk out of Brooklyn with him fraudulently portrayed as the face to help them accomplish it. That situation significantly extinguished a lot of Jay's goodwill in having his name attached to these theoretical sports team deals.

Washington D.C. / PG County Maryland where the Commanders are located is similarly a historically Black area. And as I just guessed, looked up, and confirmed, it also sounds like the Commanders are indeed demanding a new Stadium to be built for them as well now, so this all might straight up be exactly the same kinda scenario, of involving Jay-Z as the popular public face to fight off complaints of all the gentrification they are likely to cause.

people hate Bezos, but using Jay-Z as the face could maybe help them get away with it. And maybe Jay really does have his money up this time to buy an actual couple percentage in it this time. But, that history is why people are in here talking shyt and skeptical of why Jay's name is being attached to this.

Jay getting 5%
That is a way better deal than the Nets deal, honestly I am not sure he owned even a full 1% of the Nets when that deal happened.

On the low he carried the water for this deal with the league with his Kaepernick statements so at least he didn’t besmirch his name for nothing.
