What's stopping Jay from sending someone to go bid on his behalf and finally get what's his earlier than the 6 year wait? :jbhmm:
šŸ¤£ I was thinking the same thing. There must be some sort of stipulation that would prevent something like that, Iā€™d hope. If not Dame is crazy lol.

If someone buys it for a million and itā€™s theirs, they can sell it to Jayz for 1.1 million and itā€™s his, šŸ˜Ø. They can give it to him for free if they want, šŸ¤·šŸ½ā€ā™‚ļø. He shoulda just sold it to Jayz, Jayz wouldā€™ve probably paid him more just for the gesture of him being willing to sell it to him

35 years is the standard timeline as enacted per the Copyright Act of 1976. The law went in effect as of the beginning of 1978. Before 1978, artists could only recover their masters after 56 years, had they not done so already.

This is basically educating, or re-educating, the buyers on what to expect.
There must be loopholes in this right? Or like an option to sign away that right. Cause how would it otherwise work with all these funds buying up artists rights? Some of them like 60 years old. Or is it like a long maturity bond, you can buy it an own it for 35 years.

:manny: I've always thought Nas and Big > Jay. I rock with RD the most out of Jay's catalog though. It sold what it sold/still went gold if im not mistaken. Jay wasnt a major player like that though simply due to Nas and Big being around.

Jay definitely benefited from them being gone and Nas not wanting the spotā€¦

RD was a good album but folks had to go back and revisit it thanks to Vol 1.

It finally went Plat in 2002.

Jay must have took the ā€œtreat everything like your first projectā€ advice from Biggie literally.

Vol 1 has its moments despite the shiny suit influence.

The masters are the original recordings. Publishing is the rights to license the music
