@Tflasha is the purest example of a man without a country. It's not 2004 anymore.

I was listening to Snoop the other day and Jay did take a few lines from him and used them lol

I mean he didn’t just flat out bite their style well other than Young Chris but most were just a line for a hook for a few songs or a bar or two lol

Yup

He's infamous for taking other emcees' rhymes and recycling their lines:francis: and more than any other emcee too

Oh yeah, he stole the hell out of Chris' style; that whisper flow of Chris'

and yet people say "but if it wasn't for Jay doing this, Biggie's legacy wouldn't be the same" :skip:

Biggie's legacy would still be perfectly fine.

If Jay just moved on with his career and not bring Biggie up as he climbed up status wise. I don’t think Big legacy would be where it’s at right now

Not bring Biggie up? How is that possible when Pac and big were the biggest rappers. Big outsold Jay in the 90s with 2 albums. Let’s not forgot life after death went Diamond.

Plus one of the biggest rap records was a tribute to Big. Big name will always be kept alive. Even without Jay.

They say that because it gives Jay a pass to continue to bite Biggie's rhymes

I didn’t say his name wouldn’t be alive. It’s 100% wouldn’t be what it is without Jay. It’s a thread me and you are in right now 25 years later talking about it. If Jay left big name in 1997 and didn’t mention him for 25 years straight. That void would have a huge impact on Big legacy. People use Jay “biting” to prop Big up.

and 2pac & Biggie never were the biggest rappers alive btw

I agree with Bumpy Knuckles when he did an interview with hiphopgame.com
one of the questions they asked was this

"Do you buy the excuse that they're "paying tribute"?

Man, listen. (laughs) How do you pay tribute to a nikka by spitting his rhymes? That's not a tribute, that's biting. A lot of people say Biggie and 2Pac are the best rappers ever. This is some real shyt . Sometimes people praise the dead to insult the living. They don't have the shyt to say someone wasn't as good as Biggie. Who cares? Biggie was a don. He did what he did, but you do what you do. Why are you saying Biggie's rhymes? Biggie had his thing. 2Pac and Freaky Tah had their thing. They still got what they got, but it doesn't make any sense for people to take from their work. When we sample a record and chop a record up, we're good at that and that's publishing for them. You're not paying anybody for saying his rhymes. They're biting his whole verse and just chopping it into pieces, but nobody's hitting his mom or kids off."

But jigga pays the estate right?

Jay wasn’t biting. It was a fking TON of rappers redoing and using classic rap lines from other rappers in the past.

How many fking times have a rapper used the phrase...

“HOW MANY MCS MUST GET DISSED?”

If you know your HipHop then you know where certain classic lines come from when a rapper use them.

This whole song is almost built on other classic songs

It's against Hip Hop/Rap laws

"Biting is forbidden pa, pay that tax" - Ghostface

Mic Geronimo was forced out the game for trying to bite Nas. Jay never had his own style. The gatekeepers were too focused on monetizing Nas hate to focus on keeping one of the pillar rules in place for Jigga. Now they throw stones and hide their hands

BIG entered conversation when Jay was still a C-lister and has remained there ever since. Jay has nothing to do with BIG's standing in that conversation
