The double entendre of him missing the karma of "nikkas busting off in the curtains, because she's hurting" is ill..

:wow:

Especially when you revisit his "fukk rap money, I spend that on drapes" from the old Ross album..

Him fukking up in his marriage could have led to his curtains being sprayed with the next n1ggas sperm or bullets.

He ain't rapped like this for almost a decade..

The only song I don't like is the one with the Fugees sample. It's funny cause I like the Fugees song.

Same.

Moonlight to me feels like it shoulda been a Beach Is Better length interlude with the hook only and stopped after the "I'm in the skrrt wit' ya bih... yeah right" part.

On my most recent rotations of the album, Moonlight and the bonus tracks are the only tracks I don't listen to.

which do you guys think jay's best: "I aint shyt, I suck at love song"

"4:44", "Soon youll under stand", "you must love me" or "song cry"

I think Soon you'll understand was my favorite, followed by song cry, but 4:44 has surpassed both of them IMO.

Jay slid that bar in there with no fux given :wow:
Pro-Black Hov :wow:

I fukk with the soulful production heavy, that Donny Hathaway sample :wow:
The lyrics are the cherry on top for me. From pointing out current racism
to getting personal about out what happened in the family that conflicted him and made him take longer to open up to the knowledge that was given due to "looking at the messenger instead of the message" how he tied it all together with the Red Queens race is beautiful

You see, my father, son of a preacher man
Whose daughter couldn't escape the reach of the preacher's hand
That charge of energy set all the Carters back..
It took all these years to get to zero in fact
I hated religion, 'cause here was this Christian
He was preachin' on Sundays, versus how he was livin' Monday
Someday I forgive him
'Cause strangely our division led to multiple religions
I studied Muslim, Buddhist, and Christians
And I was runnin' from him, He was givin' me wisdom
See how the universe works?
It takes my hurt and help me find more of myself
It's a gift and a curse
That's called the Red Queen's Race
- Legacy

Only for NO I.D. to finish it off with the sample
"Someday we'll all be FREEEEE"

Donny Hathaway does shyt to a nikka brehs :mjcry:

Most interesting thing about this verse is that it sounds like he's improvising, like he had the words already but he let the music dictate where he placed them.

I mean,

"See how the universe works?
It takes my hurt and help me find more of myself
It's a gift and a curse
"

Where does the rhyme begin or end? It's like free jazz. The flow was so unorthodox on it that you can tell he was a little emotional spittin on this track and even 4:44 which has the same characteristic. And yet it works perfectly. And I love that shyt. That's art.
