Jay was listening to a lot of Fugees/Lauryn/Kweli/Common shyt during the making of this album.

I remember foolishly thinking I was this unique, super complex nikka with a couple grams of fish scale on me, but riding to The New Danger.

I quickly found out I wasn't as unique as I thought I was.

I've had some of the best, most in depth discussions on Mos, The Roots, Kweli, Common, and Lauryn with hustlers and strippers, then I've ever had with a square.

Jay doing what I said he wouldn't do because it's not trendy. I'll accept my L, gladly. This is a good album. His flow does sound off at times, as does the mixing, and I think this is a process of how chopped the samples are. In some areas it almost feels like No ID chopped the soul out of the tracks. I can't help but wonder how 9th Wonder would handle these, since he's prob the best chopper right now. Or if Dilla was alive.

Story Of OJ, Family Feud, and Marcy Me are standout tracks to me.

Lyrically he comes correct overall. Not sure how I feel about all the money talk. How does consolidation of wealth at the top help black people, even if there are a couple black billionaires.
I always wished we could have got three hov verses over dilla beats

Hov on "much more" would have been immaculate

It's like that for a lot of the album. The mix is ass. I dunno what NO ID was going for he did this same shyt on nobody smiling which hurt that album too. The dynamics are off. Only songs like that don't suffer from this are like 4.44 and and a couple others..
Mike will should have mixed the drums or maybe timbaland

You can hear elements of this record in Family Feud.

Just one of many classic records from Common and No I.D.

A couple days in and I it more than on day 1.

This nikka is actually flowing very well on here despite first impressions.

And the beats are better than I initially felt too...

Bumping it up from a 7 to an 8/10.
I liked it anyway but I'm liking this more as I play it. I'd probably give it an 8 too, looking forward to the 3 extra tracks next week along with it being decent quality, Iv been bumping this first day poverty leak so far.

DJ Akademiks not feeling this :what:

This fukking clown.

The only thing this man knows is fukking gossip. Jesus christ.

You really surprised? I just skimmed to a random part and he was talking how he was surprised there was no mention of Kanye throughout the album...this was apparently after his second listen...the fukk was he listening to? :dwillhuh:

Blah blah blah.

Just make sure you thank NAS for giving the orders.

"To every baby on the album cover existin'
This trend I was settin' it came to fruition
I'm assistin' to push the culture forward
To all my go supporters, go support us
Like a local black-owned grocery store
'Cause in the hood shyt ain't passed down through blood
It's a dub on that
We get government aid
Spend it at they stores, puttin' they kids through college
We need balance, so we can lease and own Ds in our projects
So I'm askin' Gs to go in their pockets
The racial economic inequality, let's try to solve it

My signature fade with the Bevel blade
That's a major key
I told her she smart and loyal, I like that
That's a major key
Start a label, run it, sign yourself
That's a major key
What Tony had on the table
It's like us, we a major key"

Beat sound familiar ?

That was last year brehs.

:wow:

Bro rappers including Jay and Nas said this stuff a bunch of times. shyt that is what Jay said on I got the keys on that same album. "Until you own your own you can't be free." Jay just said fukk it I'm going to keep saying it over and over.
