Shout out to Hoffa back home, he in the church
When I heard you got booked, that shyt hurt
Fear for you bro, we know the system don't work
Take a young nikka freedom over some dirt
Yet it's legal in Colorado
Yet we deny black entrepreneurs, free enterprise
That's why it's a black market, that's why it's called the trap
That's why it's called the project 'cause it's exactly that
All these people was gon' kill me, heh
'Cause the more I reveal me, the more they 'fraid of the real me
Welcome back Carter, smile

Just finished Legacy. Album just restarted to Kill Jay Z as I type. This isn't any sort of review. Just first impression. Jay's flow isn't what we're used to. Might as well get that legitimate gripe out of the way early. This might be the bravest album this nikka has done. The Jay we know isn't supposed to drop an album produced by one dude. If he did, No I.D wasn't supposed to be that producer. The Jay we know wasn't supposed to be the only nikka spitting bars on the album. The Jay we know would never rock the tone he just rocked for ten songs. There'd have to be something for the ladies, something for the streets, something for the club, something for the stuck in the 90's nikkas, etc. I'm genuinely blown away by this album. I personally loved MCHG for what it was. He had bars but it was just a fun listen in general. I was expecting more of the same. Not in a bad way. Drug Dealers Anonymous and various other features showed he was still on his shyt. But Jay clearly went into this with all intents to just spit. No trend hopping/pushing. No need to please every demographic. This is what was on this nikka's mind and he was gonna make that album. The flow took a back seat to making sure nikkas heard every single word he was saying. fukk realizing you're hearing jewels on the 6th or 7th listen. You gon hear these words today:ufdup:Again, just a first impression. I'm not dropping a rating or shyt.

to me he dropped a spoken word album over some soulful no id beats

I just finished this album and the irony of this old Hov line is so ironic to me after 1 listen... "Truthfully, I wanted to rhyme like Common Sense... but I did 5 MIL? I ain't been rhyming like Common since"

He wasn't lying. He brought it all the way back to what he "wanted" in his music that the casual listener may have missed throughout his previous projects.

This joint is amazing lyrically. Almost done with my 2nd Playthrough... I'll be playing this shyt a lot

Where the visuals at tho?
:feedme:
This reminds me of this CRIMINALLY underrated mixtape

215 Uptown!
After a couple listens, I already have this over American Gangster and The Black Album to place it at 3rd on my list. Might not stay there in time, as it might even go higher :ohhh:

Dude definitely delivered.

Clap for him

:whoa: we might be going too far now. It's too early for me to rank this at all But over BA?? The production on that album alone gives it top 3 material.

But fukk it. Lets just bask in the moment that we are actually debating a Hov album in 2017 is one of his greatest :wow:
