Jay Stans, if you refuse to admit that DMX was bigger than Jay in 98, can you at least admit this

It’s dark and hell is hot is better than every jay album including rd. Rd is a classic but it might be one of my least favorite solo debut classic albums :manny:.

can we at least admit that IDHH is a WAY better album than vol. 2 ??? Or is it also a pill too hard to swallow?

:pachaha: :jbhmm:

If no one ever been to the Survival Of The Illest (Def Jam) tour

They would NOT comprehend….. JayZ was nice be but there is a little bit of revisionist history with him due to the fact for what he became years later…. Which I won’t deny, he earned it.

But in 98…. X was hot on the streets

Rough Riders > The Roc

I went to the show and X’s set had the crowd more hyped than Jiggas. Not saying Jays was bad, but it just wasn’t on the level

Breh this isn’t the first Jay Z tour in which he headlined he show but another rapper headlined the radio promotion for the shows

Roc Da Mic Tour with 50 Cent … everybody there was there because they had “tickets to see 50 Cent”

Not a Jay hater…just made a thread comparing Illmatic to RD that will do solid numbers today, but I will call out the PR work and revisionist at every step

What if you condensed RD down to less tracks though :ohhh:
Rds nice but it’s dark and hell is hot is in the top 10 for me like the last few spots on the top 10 with capital punishment. I think cp is also better than rd.

You know you're GOAT level, when people are trying to find who was bigger than you during certain points of your career. It's funny.

It's wild how much hate Jay gets. Grown men actually want to debate over who was more popular 25+ years ago.

X was just getting started in '98. He was at his peak in '99. He was easily the most popular rapper in the game after dropping the second album. That's when he took it over. It wasn't when he dropped the first joint. People talk about who was poppin' a lot, but they try to ignore the numbers. For how popular X was during that time, his sales weren't matching the buzz. It took the album a couple years to sell what it would. So while X was very impactful and popular, it hurts a lot of haters' feelings to acknowledge that Hov outsold X during those two years, with Vol.2.

So while a lot of these dudes like to find weak spots in Hov's best years, he was still outselling all the rappers who people claim were "bigger" than he was. Not sure how much sense that makes, but hate on.

You posted 1 record each of a combined 34 tracks...and the record you shìtting on ain't as bad as y'all like to make it...
Nah. It’s really that bad. The worst song between the three albums mentioned in here (IDAHIH, BP, RD), even though I still think Blueprint is the best album of the three overall.

I don't agree, but I'm also young enough to be removed from how 01 Jay or Tim is "supposed to" sound.

Don't agree with BP over RD either but both are better than It's Dark.
