It was never finished.

Funny story

Just Blaze actually came on Sohh to post when Saigon’s album was dropping and dropped a bunch of jewels. He said the Scientist was supposed to be the official Nas/Hov collab for Hip Hop Is Dead (original title was NY Stomp) so Apparently Nas wanted Jay to record his verse first but Jay and Just were like “This is your album you set it off”. So Nas came to the studio with a bunch of Rhyme Books and started piecing his verse together, just as everything started to come together he got a phone call (Just thought it was Kelis) and said he’d be back.

Nas never returned to the studio
reminds me of ye's momma's boyfriend track. q tip still ain't finished that record with ye :francis:

I remember when I first heard this. almost had in tears. around 2015 I was a huge Jay Elec fan, constantly listening to his songs because it had meaning, it wasn't about selling drugs, or fukking another dudes bytch, it was that real life shyt, that 90s shyt, that good shyt, that real shyt.

2015 Kendrick dropped TPAB, so even though no jay elec album dropped, TPAB kept me fed. But lets take it back abit, i'm talking 2014 when jay elec dropped a song that I felt transcended music, that song was called better in tune with the infinite, when I heard it I felt different different. I was like how can a human being make music like this? who is this man really? what's his purpose?

But he is rapping about drugs and dealing on this song. That's literally the first few bars of one of the verses.

Jay is a GOAT tier spitter but I don't see what's so moving about this song? It's just a dope song where he's spitting about a bunch of shyt, including the hood and how good he is at rapping.
