Those songs in the post I was responding to were recorded before Act I, even though they were released after. By Act I he had already started going in that direction and has been leaning more in that direction ever since

Your point was that Jay Elect's style changed a lot from the tracks posted to now the more introspective, poetic style, to which I pointed out that's not true, because he was introspective/poetic since Act I in 2007. So that style is nothing new, he had it for damn near 15 years.

Also, he still did plenty of tracks like the ones quoted in the years after. Just look at Abracadabra, Exhibit A, Exhibit C, Ghost of Christopher Wallace, Jazzmatazz. You can also hear it in the Bring It Back snippet Just Blaze posted in 2016.

What I mean is that the the two styles are a part of him, and have been for a long while.

I didn't say it was new or that he abandoned the other style :mindblown:

His style nowadays is more "Better in Tune with The Infinite" than "Dealing" or "Dimethyltryptamine" and that change has been gradual. Don't know why that's so controversial to you but whatever

was late on this, but listened on repeat over the past week or so. breh gave the people that wasabi fr. album you can play straight through without skipping a track. the spirituality is refreshing especially considering most artists don't discuss spirituality anymore. i'm also sure there's a good segment of people who can't get with this grown man hip hop, but this was definitely needed. and appreciated. could have had more exhibit a type tracks, but i'm not disappointed. also don't see why people are saying jigga outshined elec. he wasn't lacking at all. dope album!
