:mjlol: @ the excuses being made for Jay Elect

When you really think about this album, and the time span that it took for him to drop it, it's unbelievable.

I know artists and people that make music, people that write, people that create etc... the fact that it took this man over a year on average to produce 1 song is comical.

1 song is 10 years old, and the intro isn't even a song. So that's 8 records in 11 years
:dahell:

There's probably some movie directors/producers that have put out a comparable number of projects in that time frame.

Obviously he didn't have the drive to release music and must have been eating off writing and ghosting writing for years.

I was talking to my homie today about the album. We both agreed that it was a good album. But as a 'solo' debut, it was underwhelming. I mean, I just don't understand why you would have Jay Z all over your first album. A feature or two here and there is okay, but this shyt felt like a joint album.

This “album” is kind of weird to me. I could be completely wrong, but I’m willing to bet there is an “original” version of every song with just Jay Electronica. It sounds like Jay-Z just went in and simply added his verse to each song.

Having said that, I like it. This is the best Jay-Z sounded in years imo. However, we’ve been listening to Jay for nearly 25 years. Jay Elec should have dropped a proper solo imo. Perhaps this is what his intent was, to leave the audience wanting more. However, I don’t think this is a good look. The consensus is he got outshined badly on his own album.

This is how I felt also.

Considering the fact "The Never Ending Story" was originally a Jay Elect solo track and the record is 2 years old.

I will say, A.P.I.D.T.A is a timeless record. I knew that when I first heard it.

I lost my father in-law back in November so that song resonated like crazy. Just had the album playing yesterday while grabbing some food with my wife, and she was in tears after hearing it.

Lol, that is not the consensus at all. Jay Electronica held his own easily.

Bro, you overdoing it with the Killah Priest hate. You don't have to shyt on Priest just to prop up Jay Elec. Electronica himself is a KP stan, KP been giving him props (even though many say JE bit KP whole swag) and KP has a big catalog filled with dope, thoughtful Hip Hop music. Calling KP wack is doing too much.
