They got 500 people, I hope they were all in the other side the camera :picard: I think Korakuen is still with limited attendance though.

The card was :mjlol: too

2020/2021 have been weird as fukk for puro. I only have 15-19 to compare it to, but the Japanese attitude towards vaccination has fukked everything up, I guess.

We're in a timeline where somehow Suzuki - at 53 - might be the most well known member of the current NJ roster to a mainstream Western audience. And he's performed in front of bigger crowds than Okada, Naito and them have all year :mindblown:

Yasufumi Nakanoue vs Takuya Nomura - BJW 7/23/21 Strong Heavyweight title
match starts at the 47:00 mark

As discussed before, draws are hard to get invested in because there's only so much you can do drama-wise, specially in Japan were the crowd knows they are about to see them reach the time limit the closer they get to it. But these two managed to have a great slowed paced match worked very smartly. It's a very simple story of both guys working a body part and committing to it and as always with the added plus of actually working for holds and struggling to get he upper hand, something that to me is key to keep me invested in these types of settings. In retrospect this is obviously worked as a preview of Nomura actually winning the belt (hopefully this Monday), with Nakanoue barely scratching by and being saved by the bell :wow: Young Gawd's selling was top notch by the way.

You can tell Big Japan fans want this kid to get the damn strap because they were very invested in everything they did, even though they can't scream and chant. They bought into some nearfalls and were constantly clapping, giving this a proper atmosphere for a title match.

Yasufumi Nakanoue vs Fuminori Abe - BJW DeathMania IX 9/5/21 Strong Heavyweight title

match starts at the 1hr05 minutes mark

They did a good job shifting focus to strikes instead of holds and matwork (like the Nomura match). The first 10 minutes are mostly carried by Abe, and even though he doesn't go into his usual stick until the finishing sequence, he basically keeps your interest with everything he does. The last five minutes are a little too over the top for me but I know I'm in the minority when it comes to that kind of stuff.

Forgot the G1 was starting tonight. Was on watchwrestling about to catch up on Rampage before going to sleep and then SD tomorrow but saw the ad for the G1 and was like fukk it let me check out a few matches. :leon:

Naito and ZSJ look to be main eventing which should be a great match but I might have to catch that one after I wake up. Actually main is Ishii vs Shingo, another great match with two tough brawlers. Can't wait to see Toru Yano and his fukkery with Kenta. :heh:

That O-khan and Tanga match looks to be the weakest one on the card. If its after this Ibushi and Yujiro match, I might just swap to Rampage and catch the rest of the card tomorrow afternoon where I can skip ahead.
