Dave saying WWE was willing to let Dragon work New Japan in order to keep him but Nick Khan failed in getting NJPW to sign an exclusivity deal so other talent could also work there (and fukk over AEW, obviously) and Danielson wanted other people to get that chance too. Seems it was a "gotta try something new before it's too late" type of decision and he knows the door is wide open if he just wants to cash that WWE check.

As I've said before, when it comes to Danielson I believe Dave because he clearly talks to him on the regular. It's also pretty interesting how of all the deals Nick Khan has been able to pull through, puroresu wasn't one of them (they couldn't buy Stardom and NOAH either)
