I heavily disagree but I see were you are coming from. My (and others) issue with them is that we feel the exact opposite as you. Those matches don't fly by, they feel like a chore to watch for half or even 3/4 of their duration. Most of the action before the final sequence (that are always at the very least, really fun to watch) doesn't grab me nor do I find whatever they do compelling to watch. Mostly because I know it will have very little meaning by the end of the match but even if that wasn't the case, they don't do stuff that interest me that much. There are exceptions, of course, but the amount of matches I didn't think could've been 10 to 20 minutes shorter I can count on 1 hand in the last 4 or 5 years.
When a big match lasts 20 to 25 minutes (or less), is harder to find those stretches and even if they are there, they are much shorter so I'm less bothered by them and in a great match I don't even care because it's such a blimp in the overall match.
But I can see why if you love everything (or mostly everything) they do in a ring, you'd welcome matches going as long as they can and feel like big epics every time. I'm curious, since when have you been watching New Japan and which would you rank n°1 to n°3 in terms of main events: Okada's run (2013-2018), Naito/Ibushi/more (2018-today) and Tanahashi's run (2007-2013)
