Fujita and Tadao fukking Yasuda () getting the belt were mind boggling bad decisions during a time New Japan kept doing those over and over again, which were accompanied by the whole company shifting to everything bad about Inokism full force.

I don't think we are close to that right now. If Fujita got the belt but was beaten 3 months later by a Hashimoto that wasn't ruined by the Ogawa feud, I don't think much would've been made about such a random dude getting the big belt. That's kind of were I'm coming from. When Nagata got the title and they did that big title run after Fujita and Yasuda, he was already damaged goods after getting beat to a pulp by Cro Cop in a real fight. New Japan ain't going through the kind of fukked up fukkery the early 00's had.

I could agree but then I remember G1 2005 and his dominance until the finals. Sure, he beat Scott Norton for the first win which imI guess is ok but this was into Inoki-ism killing the company so I was already frustrated. While I dont think the EVIL deal is THAT bad, and while it can be easily salvaged, I have very little faith in Gedo being able to pull this off. In fact he probably still thinks the turn is genius. I have trained my mind to forget about Yasuda and Makai Club for that matter.

I mean, White has had a natural progression as a performer. Dude is barely 27.

Him getting such a huge push wasn't a knock in him as much as it was on Gedo rushing him (and delaying other shyt) because he wanted a new top gaijin no matter what when it wasn't something urgent. At the end of the day, not much was lost but nothing was gained either (which is the main critic on Gedo's booking: delay shyt, comeback to the same and pull the trigger late or never pulling it).

I think White would've found his groove without an IWGP title reign, as him turning his character around happened after he lost the main belt
