If his neck is surgically repaired, it should be stronger than it was before it was broken in the first place, so he can be even crazier now. :umad:

I remember when I first started reading other wrestling boards with tape traders and dudes that had seen really old wrestling, Harley used to get shytted on for working that way, and specially his use of the piledriver. I even remember reading one debate about Harley being the "original Kurt Angle", I think it was either on WrestlingClassics or PWO.

I'm sure @TrueEpic08 or other shoot style fans from here can give you a better answer but even though MiSu was the smallest of the group. Guys like Fujiwara (his trainer), Masakatsu Funaki or Daisuke Ikeda were never that much bigger than Suzuki :dame:

edit: unless Karl Gotch trained him for an extended period of time :patrice:

his style is one you see usually the smaller wrestlers use who have to work w bigger guys......an aggressive style in terms of movement to tire out the bigger guy but not really shooting unless you see them make a mistake or be off balance so you don't have to exert yourself grappling w the bigger guy for no reason.

edit could it be him being apprehensive about the other guys striking :patrice: idk im about to look around online and see if I find anything.

Side note but every time I go back to watch some pancrase stuff I love the aesthetic of the thai pads and trunks :dame: although they could have went w shorts tho :dame: now a days all the playfighters rock thai pads im guessing for the sound effect when they kick each others chest and shyt meanwhile suzuki tossed them shyts in the bushes his shyts are probably like a fukking tree. My son thai coach is all calcified :picard: could imagine what suzuki shyt like :picard: shin to shin hitting is one of the top 5 WOAT feelings. :to:

Yup, Gotch trained Suzuki when he first went to NJPW, and he had been an Olympic alternate in Freestyle Wrestling before that. Haven't been able to find anything on weight class, but it wouldn't surprise me if he had gotten used to wrestling bigger guys during his amateur days and while training with Gotch.

Bock also uses a Gable grip, but not quite as textbook, but also uses it to grip for a butterfly suplex which is interesting.
