Omega/ Okada had some dope matches, against a very theatrical backdrop - all the Bullet Club/Elite infighting, Golden Lovers reunion, All In/ AEW talk etc. I respect it for the fact that it gave a lot of people something to do, but at times the B-storylines got to be a bit much. It's not really a secret that Kenny can be a bit melodramatic - the video from WK is a good example. shyt like this is why. even though his booking can be mad repetetive, I have to occasionally give props to Gedo. They made the chase mean something.
Okada/ Shibata though
. It was a visual representation of what happens when an unstoppable force meets an unmoveable object.
That one picture of Okada on the turnbuckle and Shibata staring into the abyss like
said more to me in terms of set-up than a good few postmatch fukkery segments could.
I always got the idea that Shibata's character is humble because he left when the company needed him and he came back and had to prove himself (In my head canon - that's why he wore black like the young lions - it was his way of being contrite). When he got the chance in kayfabe, he was ready to die to win the title and prove himself - . It turns out reality was damn near the same story.
