Oh I agree both matches are on different levels, but I'm honestly not sure how Shibata/Okada is seen beyond the hardcore and older fanbase (us :flabbynsick:)

Okada/Shibata gains with time because too many marks were caught up in Meltzer's 6* Kenny dikkriding. I think anyone with sense immediately realized that what Okada and Shibata put down is one of the greatest matches in years.

Sure, I also think 1 match is not enough to judge anyone but you do you breh :hubie:
nah i saw 2 six mans and a singles from 2018

hes good but he lacks presence. theres no way hes a top 10 wrestler right now. can he be? yeah, but not right now.

Fair enough :ehh: all I know is that he's one of the 10 wrestlers I most seek stuff I can watch from. I totally disagree on him not having presence but if he's not that good to you that's fine, I'm glad you actually took time to watch him, that's a W in my eyes.

Whenever i go on my Shibata watches the ishii g1 joint is probably my most rewatched match. The Okada match was dope though and I can see why that match is viewed like it is. I fukk w the Omega/Okada matches but the only one I think comes close is their g1 bout. I prefer sprints over marathons though.

100% I also think today's style fits waaay more for 20-25 minutes than 30+.

I'm definitely a sprint guy myself, but partially because it's exceedingly rare for guys to understand how to pace a 30+ minute match without blatantly killing time. Despite it being 38 minutes, I never thought that the Okada/Shibata match was too long, which is more and more rare these days. Whereas the Okada/Omega matches, save for their G1 encounter, could all probably lose 15-25% of their runtime and be infinitely better for it.

Damn shame that Okada/Omega got way more media attention than the Shibata/Okada match got

Shibata/Okada is an all time classic to me personally up there with Austin/Bret, Rock/Austin, Punk/Cena, etc
