Day 3. Bit of a skipable card again:

Honma/Gallows:

Tana/Kojima:

Main event, Okada/Makabe:

Day 4 has Honma/Ishii, Naito/Styles and Tanahashi/Shibata :takedat:

^^^One of the best spots of the year :wow: Great main event, Tanahashi took a pretty huge beating. Shibata shrugging off Tana's dropkick, hitting around 45 forearms and then hitting his low dropkick was so great. Whole finishing run was spectacular as well. Tana having to crawl backstage and cut a promo on his hands and knees :whoa:

Overall day 4 is probably near card of the year status, great match after great match. Have to admit AJ is making me look pretty stupid for saying I wasn't interested in watching him in NJPW, Naito match was another great effort from him. And Ishii/Honma delivered majorly again.

Never watched the G1 before, but damn so many of these matches were fire. Is Shibata ever getting a big push? Dude looked great in those matches vs Nakamura and Tanahashi.

G1 is always a great way to start/catch up with Puro, welcome aboard breh. And it definitely looks like Shibata is getting pushed this year, I think they might even want to make him number three behind Nakamura and Okada since Tanahashi is so banged up and injured from years of main event matches. It's really about time they did this anyway, he's been pretty much wasted this past year or so. Check out Shibata/Ishii from the G1 last year if you can, one of Shibata's best matches.

Day 5 highlights:

Loved the Okada/Naito match. In my mind it reaffirmed that they might actually have the best chemistry of any two guys in the promotion.

Shibata, Styles and Naito have all been really good in their big matches here, but the underdog story they're telling with Honma might be the most interesting thing in the whole tournament. The reaction will be huge when he finally gets a big win.

:lupe:

Tanahashi really needs to start taking it easy and transition into a veteran style role.
