Ibushi drops out of the G1 because of concussion and Honma replaces him. Right decision all round.

Havent liked Honma since his Big Japan run. Will the G1 make me care again? :lupe:

Have you checked his match against Ishii from this year? That's some good stuff. He's almost taken over from Ishii at this point as the super underdog who the fans get behind and who pretty much always loses. The crowd response should be good for his matches at least.

At today's press conference for the G-1 Climax tournament, Tomoaki Honma was brought out as the replacement for Kota Ibushi.

The tournament starts Sunday night U.S. time (Monday afternoon in Japan). Honma will face Hiroshi Tanahashi on the first night.

Honma and junior heavyweight champion Kushida were the two choices when Ibushi was unable to do the tournament due to a concussion suffered in a 7/4 match with Kushida.

It's a different dynamic. Ibushi would have likely had phenomenal matches considering his bouts of late with Shinsuke Nakamura and Tomohiro Ishii, who are both in the A block. But Honma is a great underdog worker. The only question is how this affects the booking as Ibushi would have likely had several wins. Honma will likely get some wins,. but not nearly as many, unless they just gave him the wins Ibushi would have gotten to not force a change in the rest of the matches.

Ibushi's concussion was diagnosed as extremely serious.

Not sounding god for Ibushi.

Crazy fukking show, the top 3 matches were all excellent.

Thought Nakamura/Shibata was MOTN, but Okada/Styles wasn't far behind at all. This was probably the first time AJ truly looked at home in a New Japan main event.

Day 2, more of a B show but a few good matches:

Ishii/Kojima

Honma/Nagata

AJ/Yano, this is a shockingly good match:

This match is meh but it's the main event so I'll post it anyway, Tana/Gallows:

That Gallows gear:huhldup: AJ putting in work in the tournament so far.
