:dwillhuh: breh, NOAH had a streak of like 5-6 months were they couldn't even get 1k at Korakuen, it was only broken at the end of last year. Big Japan had an impressive run in the middle of the year only to get sub 900 shows at Korakuen (with the main belts on the line) to close out 2017. Now at the end of December and the New Year's show they got a sell out, but that's because of the date, not an indictment of the promotion.

If we are in October and every small promotion is rocking full houses at Korakuen and their respective Sumo Hall shows did better than the last couple of years, THEN we can start talking about something interesting happening.

No, they did 35k paid. They papered the rest to get to 43k, New Japan themselves gave the real attendance, why the hell are you running with the worked one? :dead:

35k is a very good number, but once again, there's a huge gap between a very good number and "puro is about to hit a boom again". I don't know why I bother to be honest :snoop:

I literally had this debate on a friends facebook about how far off we are from a boom period in Japan. Its like Wrestle Kingdom (and subsequent Meltzer reporting) creates hysteria when half of the people hyping it dont even follow semi-reguarly to Sakura Genesis

Anyways, let's post some happy thoughts :ahh:

Shuji Ishikawa vs Mike Bailey - DDT D-Ou Grand Prix 1/5/18
https://vk.com/videos289484704?z=video289484704_456243441/pl_289484704_-2

This had two of things I fukking love in wrestling: a great David vs Goliath battle, and wrestlers having to EARN their shyt to get what they want :banderas:. It's established from the get go, and from just looking at these two, that Speedball has his work cut out for him with Shuji being a massive wall of hurt he has to try to bring down. Even though he tries to use his speed and flurries of offense, Ishikawa is just too damn big and powerful so it makes sense that with just 1 strike/cutoff, Bailey is back to square one. Speedball is so damn resilient and persistent - and does as great job as the sympathetic babyface -that eventually he earns his shot at actually winning this. I thought Shuji also did a good job at showing vulnerability when it was needed too. Only thing I'd say this lacked was a better atmosphere, though considering this was Shinjuku it was good enough. It got a little too bloated near the end, they could've had a tighter finishing run but that's just nitpicking, this is definitely worth a watch and a great start for 2018 @Ace of the Metropolitan @EgyptianBasses @Don Ibiza Ibrahimovic @The Rainmaker @Superkick Party @PlayerNinety_Nine @Hey_zeus @Beautiful Bobby Eatin @Arrogance. @MightyHealthy

Can't wait till Thursday when SamuraiTV shows the Big Japan and All Japan shows, Shuji might fukk around and be the MVP of "NYE week" :ohlawd:

Cant wait to watch this in the morning :wow:
Tenryu the kind of dude that in a movie is shown as the lovable old man that loves his grand kinds, then some day some fukkboy kidnaps them and Tenryu goes to fukking work, grumpy style :demonic:
We HAVE to kickstart this movie :lolbron: Taken starring Tenryu with japanese fukkery is a hit we never knew we wanted :takedat:

How did Ricky Fuji get into the Super J Cup in 1994? Surely there was a better dude around than him, right?

It's as "safe" as giving your number to Facebook, as VK is a Russian version of it. I've read some demonic shyt happening there but if it's has puro that no one else is posting, I'm in :manny:

Right. It's just a collection of fairly standard junior matches you'd see on any given card throughout the year, just all in one night. None are great, a couple are pretty good, a few are complete wastes of time. I was much harder on it in the past, but it's fine. Nowhere near deserving of the praise Double Talk Dave heaped on it and therefore got online for the next 20+ years.

Looking at New Japan's next tour, they are plowing through Kitamura's "graduation" series. He's gonna have his 6th match (out of seven) at the end of the tour on Feb 10th against Nagata. It makes sense they want to rush his push considering how thin they are in new talent at Heavyweight, I wonder if they'll send him to ROH or CMLL for his excursion :jbhmm: hopefully it's the latter.

BTW, Jericho vs Naito will NOT be at New Beggining in Osaka, I guess they'll save it for March? He's not wrestling any other dates either, though we all kinda knew that already.
