Worst news all damn year, I wanna go cry in a corner :mjcry:

~ Yuji Okabayashi was announced to be undergoing shoulder surgery in December and will be out of action for at least a year.

Not fair, not fukking fair :to: :to: :to: :to:

Has to watch this tweet to get myself out of a depression...

I guess time does heal all wounds :wow:

-Okami got Strong BJ's spot in All Japan's World Tag League. Daichi gets another chance to keep improving. Okami will face each other at Big Japan's next Korakuen Hall, I guess it will be set up to build up Daichi for rematch with Suzuki at Death Vegas as they face the champi & Uto three days later so it would make sense. Kinda surprised they haven't booked Shuji this year, I hope they didn't break ties with him :francis:

-The 11/1 show is online :blessed: surprised they got such a low number at Korakuen after the strong run they were having this year, I blame fuking Fujita being in the main event and scaring fans away :pacspit:

Hideki Suzuki vs Hideyoshi Kamitani - Big Japan Strong Heavyweight Title
Hideki Suzuki (c) vs. Hideyoshi Kamitani (BJW - 01.11.2017)

Not as good as their first match, of course it didn't have the same heat as less people were in the building this time but even still, they didn't do as good a job building momentum and drama. Story is Kamitani not being able to get control from the start like last time and having to deal with Suzuki toying with him with different holds, once the young bull gets some offense in this gets a little more intense but it felt kinda disjointed. There were a couple of cool moments, Hideki does a great job as the a$$hole champ/invader and it's short enough to not bother anyone but it lacked drama I loved from Suzuki's past defenses. Post match was another heated exchange with Daichi :pachaha:

Daichi Hashimoto, Kazumi Kikuta, Ryuichi Kawakami vs. Daisuke Sekimoto, Kohei Sato, Takuya Nomura (BJW - 01.11.2017)

Now THIS, this was fun as fukk. Classic Strong Division formula tag: 10 minutes or less, six people hitting each other hard as fukk and HATING each other and a last sequence giving the young kids time to shine. It's why I love this division, just fun and short.

That pic of Tana/Shibata is even worse when you know Shibata closes one eye because his vision is so blurry that he needs to close one to focus. He was doing that in matches for years even before the Okada headbutt, too.

"Your honour - we can talk all day about the prosecution's fanciful notions of fantastical Aztec medallions, but there is no proof that my client has a murderous alter-ego who was kept in his cage by his brother. If the boiler suit doesn't fit - you must acquit..."

This ended up being the biggest review I've ever put up due to the length of the show (4 1/2 hours) mixed with late 90s AJPW being very spot heavy. Baba's happiness during his match is the best shyt. Grinning ear to ear with every spot and does a lot of the work and to me it's the most entertaining match on the card.

This
Late 90s AJPW has such a weird style where getting kicked in the face and dropped on your head multiple times means nothing as long as you can do a suplex of your own a minute later. It's not really a style you can just view in a vacuum. You have to understand the prior like...12 years of main event style and how it's progressed since Choshu's AJPW run for this shyt to make sense. Plus the 20 years of history between Kawada and Misawa even before they were pros.

is spot on, so much so that your next sentence is a prime example of it.

Misawa's leg becomes a focus after awhile. FOCUS ON HIS ARMS SO HE CAN'T BLAST YOU WITH ELBOWS OR TIGER DRIVE YOU, BREH.

Misawa got his leg worked on during most of the Champions Carnival that year, and Kawada got a big win over Taue in the CC with a Figure Four, so him working the leg makes sense in that regard. Besides, Misawa got his elbow fukking destroyed one year prior vs Kobashi and still won :pachaha:

I always thought that the fact that Misawa and Kawada couldn't pull off another classic during the late 90's was big proof that King's Road style was in the decline post 1/20/97. Still, the 98' Dome match didn't have much chances to be THAT good considering Misawa was a fukking wreck - had issues in both legs, neck and elbow :dead: - to the point that after this show, it was the one and only time he took time to rest. Too bad he didn't do it more often :to:

Have you seen the 99' Baba Memorial at the Dome breh? I fukking love Vader vs Misawa from that show.

Nah but it's next on my list of AJPW shows to watch. I've seen Vader/Misawa from it, though.
