Just because they have disgruntled ex-WWE guys doesn't mean they've been in a position to use them to taunt the petty ass WWE or even had motivation to do so, as they do now. My whole point is he's worth a shot, we can agree to disagree though fam-a-lam.

And no bullshyt I popped seeing Billy Gunn come out in the battle royale, lol.

Yikes, ya’ll are really in a race to write-off Cody. I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again. He’s barely done anything on the indies, and he’s a dude who’s essentially been in the WWE system his entire career. Cody had some tremendous tag team stuff with his brother before WWE cut them off for zero reason, his SD heel run where he had actual programs and big payoff matches with people was really good as well.

James Gibson is pretty much the poster boy for “good in the WWE great on the indies” and it took him nearly a year before he got it figured out and started putting in work. There’s only like 3-4 months worth of good work from him at that super high level he was at from the year and a half he was independent.

On the opposite end of that spectrum is Drew Galloway, who surprised everyone hitting the ground running at such a high level.

Point is, this wrestling deal is a craft, and it can take time to figure things out. Let’s let Cody have a real resume as a worker without restraints before we judge him, eh?

I actually enjoy Cody's indie run but his NJPW debut was kinda underwhelming. The segment leading to WK where he introduce "The American Nightmare" had me marking out. Once his match started....meh. Hopefully he'll shake things up with the possible idea of him taking over Bullet Club.

Barely done anything? He's had matches with Chris Hero (probably the MVP of the indies in the last 2 years), Zack Sabre Jr. (one of the more highly acclaimed guys world wide for years), Kurt Angle, Matt Riddle (the next big indie guy), a BOLA appearance, TNA run, Ciampa and Gargano, Will Ospreay, and more....no one has anything to say about any of those matches. They came and went and no one cared at all.

Not when those four months are pretty much exclusively top stars and top level talent. It's not like he's been doing tiny shows in Duluth.

Ryback has way more upside on the indies and Japan than Cody, imo. He's at least unique for his era and isn't going to try to have great work rate matches while he's actually painfully average and is discovering he doesn't know how to do any of the stuff he thought he did. Bring Ryback to Big Japan. But he really should have been the new Bullet Club member. Ryback and Omega seems like a pretty good pairing.

That would be dope as fukk :ohlawd: Daisuke and Yuji made The Bodyguard and Zeus look like they belonged, and they keep trotting out youngins that show promise. They could to wonders for Ryback.

Too bad they probably have NO money to offer him :mjcry:

Dog, even AJ's first match with Hero when he was back on the indies was mediocre as fukk, and that's a dude with a DEEP well to draw from. He didn't fully get back in his bag until the summer (and it took him this last summer to get into his zone working in the WWE). Shut, AJ was extra average in BOLA 2014, too, and this is AJ Styles we're talking about. Cody is damn near learning how to wrestle again. I gave you a clear example in James Gibson of a guy who it took almost a year for it to click for him. Took Trent Beretta about the same amount of time to actually figure out what worked for him, and ditto Giant Bernard.

Cody has been working a show here and a show there since his release. Starting now he's going to be working some of the same people in front of the same crowds in the same companies. Now he can learn, experiment, and grow.

Let's make a call after he has a proper body of work to pull from. Four months of barnstorming is not that.

Cody has 10 years of work to pull from. You can name all of one great match he was involved in. Cody can :camby:
