Grimy, bloody lucha is the only lucha worth giving a shyt about, but the argument on PWO is that wrestling fans (for some reason conflated with *****) think Mexico is dirty and poor, so they won't watch anything from there.

I'm interested to know how Lucha commentary is so bad :heh: I'm glad I don't understand it anyway :obama:

You can check that Black Terry vid, no commentary!

It's like the RAW announcing team in their worst day, but 10 times worse. Everything feels phony, cadence is horrible, excitement sounds fake as fukk and they go away from the action to talk about either stupid/uninteresting shyt or about the refs. It's really fukking hard to ignore too because the audio on most lucha footage focuses heavily on commentary or tries to silence the atmosphere as much as possible.

To be honest, the commentary on the Virus match might be decent. But just remembering all those hours I endured of 90's and 00's lucha makes me reject everything that resembles to that bullshyt. Maybe it really picked up at the 10 minute mark, but the damage is already done, if it doesn't sounds interesting in the first few minutes or it involves Negro Casas, I'm turning shyt off. I hate feeling that way, but I just can't help it :wow:

I think their argument is "there HAS to be a deeper reason to lucha not being as well liked as puro". And that leads to people reaching for reasons that aren't there and to make arguments like the race/culture one. Only one dude talked about 4ch*n, and like 3 are trying to make the race argument a thing. But the overall feel is that "THE ANSWER TO THIS HAS TO BE COMPLEX AND A STATEMENT ABOUT HUMANITY" which is ridiculous.

Right, never mind that the structure of puro (namely the 90's AJPW stuff we basically all cut our teeth on) is VERY simple and effortlessly communicated even through the language barrier, with easy to grasp, color coded wrestler archetypes who obsess over call-back spots so entire stories can be grasped just by watching from bell to bell.

This guy throws elbows and is level headed, this guy throws kicks and has a fiery temper, this guy wear throws chops and is really brave, this fat American is really grumpy, this brolic americna is really intense etc etc. Puro is just so fukking easy to get an immediate grasp of.

I think, for me, it boils down to Grimmas being an insecure little bytch who needs to feel justified and validated in liking something that isn't as popular as other things. Instead of just enjoying what he enjoys, he's more worried about fitting in more.

That's true too. I laughed when I read "A few have come back with lucha is just not for them, which is completely fine. However, I feel like that is too simple of an answer." :dead: dude pretty much admits he needs a deeper answer. He's changed the point of the thread like 3 times already too :pachaha:

So, about PURO....

It seems Suzuki Gun really is out of NOAH. None of the core members have been announced for the first tour of 2017. They are also booking a bunch of "homegrown talent vs homegrown talent" singles matches.

I wonder if Misu makes an appearance at WK :ohhmj:

Maybe MiSu challenges the winner of Okada/Omega? Either is a fresher match than Naito or Tanahashi.

Isn't it crazy that Suzuki is like 46 and no one ever talks about him being old or past his prime

Not really, as long as a wrestler keeps working at a high level he wont be called passed his prime. At least in Japan.

I meant more that it's crazy that he's still working at such a high level. Like...he's been at it for THIRTY YEARS.

eh, kind of?

Was a good young boy, but then did MMA for about a decade, and he’s really only hit his peak as a wrestler in the 2010’s. Despite being around for a long time he’s essentially a late bloomer.

Doing 10 years of MMA is as or more damaging to your body than doing pro wrestling for those 10 years, and right now, Suzuki is in better shape than he's been in since the 90s.

I'm gonna let this here and watch it later. Reading what they wrote there this must be amazing:mjgrin:

Best match ever

But in all seriousness those blade jobs:huhldup:

Match was weak for the first two falls. Picks up a bit after. Wrong guy won imo (just based on the Match)

Ain't no way it's a classic, 3 stars at best.

Commentary was weak :leostare:
