From the AJPW show:

According to reports, Shiraishi (the new owner) showed up after the main event, and essentially buried the show in front of the live crowd, and outright admitted they weren't close to selling out. KENSO (who Shiraishi's been HIGHLY negative of in the last weeks) confronted him, and was apparently BEAT UP by Shiraishi (WHAT?)

:dead: if this is accurate. This dude Shiraishi going all the way into the evil owner gimmick.

Even on pictures you can tell Takayama can barely move :to:

I know Shiraishi has a gimmick and all. But if 7-8k of the 9k announced paid, that ain't bad at all.

Problem isn't whether they paid for this show, its whether they'll pay for shows 6 months down the line.

Shiraishi seems a little too nuts to assure me of this being the case. Didn't we just spend the last couple of years killing Michael Cole for doing this type of thing, and now this guy wants to do said stupid thing in Puro?

Again, I'll wait and see, but I'm not too high on this based on what I've seen.

The Shiraishi segment in detail, translation ain't very good but still understandable:

March 17th AJPW Ryogoku show.

AJPW new owner Shiraishi showed up in front of fans. Fans booed him. They said "Get out!". Shiraishi said "I am the new owner of AJPW, Shiraishi. How do you think of today's show? I think it is not good. From April, AJPW will be changed to be stronger and hold great matches. Today's show was not full house. I will fight against NJPW".

Then KENSO who Shiraishi said he is gonna fire showed up. Shiraishi said "Come on!". He also said "Can you do real pro-wrestling? AJPW is created by Baba, Tsuruta,Tenryu, Four Kings, And Muto." Then Shiraishi beat up KENSO. And Hikaru Sato showed up and chase Shiraishi. Sato was crying.
NJPW Kidani will send protest note to AJPW Shiraishi

Kidani: "Fans in Ryogoku Sumo hall booed to Shiraishi. It is unbelievable. AJPW fans were not satisfied the show itself. They were only satisfied to see Shiraishi. It is very shocking that Shiraishi slap KENSO. Is he serious? I wanted KENSO to beat up Shiraishi. I want Shiraishi to apologize to NJPW. I will sent protest note to AJPW."

Shiraishi: "Kidani will send me protest noto. As soon as I receive it, I will open it to the fans. I never lose against NJPW in business. I want NJPW to put down "King Of Sports". I want to get rid of Match-fixing. I hate Match-fixing in pro-wrestling. Wrestlers in NJPW, AJPW, and NOAH are not bad. All bad thing is executives who forces them to do Match-fixing"

This guy has truly embraced #fukkery :pachaha:

Whether this actually helps or hurts All Japan...we'll have to wait and see.

...what the fukk? Does he think he's Inoki circa 2000-2005 or something?

I cannot believe that, in the climate of Puroresu in 2013, this guy is trying to do a shoot storyline (if what I'm reading is correct) with KENSO as a major player.

File this under "Lost His Mind".

The weird part of it all is that Shiraishi has stated time and time again that he thinks All Japan's style is "real pro wrestling". And now he says he hates match fixing :mindblown:

Beware spoilers...

All Japan Pro Wrestling ran its biggest show so far this year on 3/17 at Tokyo Sumo Hall, which saw Suwama win the Triple Crown and Kenta Kobashi rejoin the promotion that he left in 2000.

Kobashi, who turns 46 next week, and will retire after a 5/11 show due to the accumulation of injuries, at Budokan Hall, was announced as the new chairman of the Pacific Wrestling Federation. It’s a figurehead position, like commissioner, who comes out before championship matches and reads a proclamation. For most of its existence, Lord James Blears was the PWF Chairman, until he got too old to travel to Japan regularly. Stan Hansen held the role for many years, and of late, it was held by Hiroshi Hase.

Kobashi being affiliated with All Japan makes sense since most of the wrestlers he was closest to in NOAH, Jun Akiyama, Go Shiozaki, Kotaro Suzuki, Atsushi Aoki and Yoshinobu Kanemaru, all quit NOAH largely in protest of Kobashi being dropped by the promotion.

The former NOAH guys only had two choices, All Japan or New Japan. Since Akiyama was the leader and had a good run working big All Japan shows last year as champion, he and the other four guys, who had all agreed to stick together so they could come into one group or the other as the outsiders. But they didn’t realize what All Japan was about to become.

Kobashi and Akiyama have been friends for two decades. Kobashi still has mostly friends in Pro Wrestling NOAH, but he wanted nothing to do with Ryu Nakata, who handles NOAH business.

Hase, 51, currently a senator in Japan’s legislature who came from Olympic wrestling to become a star in New Japan Pro Wrestling, read the proclamation for the final time before the Triple Crown title match where Suwama beat Masakatsu Funaki to win the title for the third time. Suwama (Kohei Suwama, 36) first won the title on April 29, 2008, from Kensuke Sasaki, holding it until September 28, 2008, losing to Great Muta. His second run was the big one, beating Minoru Suzuki on August 29, 2010, before losing to Jun Akiyama on October 23, 2011. In winning for a third time, Suwama joins a select group, all Hall of Famers, as three-time champion: Keiji Muto, Toshiaki Kawada, Genichiro Tenryu, Kobashi, Mitsuharu Misawa, Stan Hansen, and Jumbo Tsuruta. After winning, Suwama was challenged for title matches by Jun Akiyama (noting he beat Suwama to win the title) and Go Shiozaki. But the next challenger is likely to be the winner of the upcoming Champion Carnival tournament.

The Champion Carnival will be from 4/18 to 4/29, with the first and last night at Korakuen Hall. The lineup will be Suwama, Funaki, Takao Omori, Kenso, Masayuki Kono, Seiya Sanada, Kai, Ryota Hama, Akebono, Akiyama, Shiozaki and Joe Doering.

The show drew 6,000 fans, although a lot of that was paper. They announced 9,000, and it wasn’t close, and there was even a deal after the show was over where owner Nobuo Shiraishi complained about it being a poor house. While reports we got were it was a fun show to watch, with some good matches, in particular the two tag team title matches, and filled with shows, there were also negatives vibes live that were brought up. Having so many big names, almost a Who’s Who of 90s superstars, and tickets not selling well did bring comparisons to seeing a WCW show on its way down.

After the show, Shiraishi, who is playing heel, like his friend Takaaki Kidani in New Japan (basically you have rich businessmen who grew up following wrestling in the 90s and want to be Vince McMahon and Eric Bischoff) came out and said that All Japan would change starting at the Champion Carnival and got into it with Kenso, who he had said on a number of occasions that he thinks he should fire because he’s not a real quality wrestler. Fans were chanting for Shiraishi to leave and booing him.

It was either a very believable angle, or just a crazy thing. Those in the company were saying it was real.

Shiraishi walked to ringside after the show when the crew was taking down the ring. The lights were down and all the photographers and almost all the fans had left, but a few fans were milling around. Kenso came out and they started arguing. That’s where I sense a work only because they’ve built up Shiraishi vs. Kenso for a few weeks. Shiraishi started pushing him. Hikaru Sato then came out and stopped Shiraishi and took him down wrestling style. The key is that Sato is a shooter from Pancrase who has been working with All Japan, but is not under contract to the company. Then it ended.

It’s noted that people hope it’s all an angle, because if not, things are going to get bad quickly. Shiraishi keeps talking on his Facebook page that he wants to make pro wrestling real again. He grew up a fan of 1985-86 New Japan with the UWF invasion, the second UWF, UWFI, RINGS, Muto vs. Takada and the Misawa, Kawada and Kobashi era of All Japan. He writes like he’s thinking that was real and wrestling was super popular in that era, so the key is to get wrestling back to that level by making it real again.

Shiraishi also said he’s been talking MMA classes or four years and thinks he can beat up some wrestlers like Kenso and Omori who didn’t come from legit fighting backgrounds. He spoke to Omori and told him he should use his moves more effectively in his matches because the moves he uses weren’t leading to enough damage. The reaction was, “Is this guy joking or is he just plain stupid?” All Japan President Masayuki Uchida apologized for the actions of Shiraishi, at a subsequent press conference.

The highlights were said to be the two tag team title matches with All Japan vs. Burning, the newcomers from NOAH. The show stealer saw Akiyama & Shiozaki won the world tag team titles over Takao Omori & Manabu Soya, while the second best match saw Koji Kanemoto & Minoru Tanaka retain the All-Asia tag titles over Suzuki & Aoki. For Soya, it was his last match for a long time, as he’s got a herniated disc in his neck, as well as an eye injury, shoulder problems and back problems.
