Idk breh, he's been trying to set foot in Japan for almost a decade now. The whole "have NXT in every country with wrestling tradition" grand plan was his idea too. This has been brewing before TKO and even Nick Khan.
They'll have to adapt their product for the Japanese market or park their current Japanese talent on it to prop it up. Their TV and streaming ratings and Google search trends in Japan are miniscule compared to the major Japanese promotions. They're selling tickets well for their upcoming house show tour, but that's because they'll have all their big name Japanese talents on the shows.

HHH will probably weasel his way into somehow taking over Marigold and some other promotion and merging it together, that would be far easier than trying to start something from scratch.

Yes, all of this has been discussed to death already.

To be honest the only thing that would make sense is that the announcement is about NOAH being involved in WWE's July's tour so they can use Mutoh's good promoting and some of their talent to sell tickets for Osaka and specially Sumo Hall, as they are running back to back events there.

Making a promotion from scratch would probably have 1 to 3 successful shows and then they'll quickly become a glorified indy, like 95% of every puro promotion.

That was the pre-AEW days when he was basically trying to jumpstart a new territorial age and have a line on talent and development, especially with WWE still under Vince's control.

This is the bean counters trying to genuinely take a new market so they have another place to sell overpriced stadium show tickets.

This crowd for the UJPW All Together show :picard:

But looking at the card who can blame them when the main event is Naito vs. Jake Lee and six of the nine matches are tag matches, with five of those six being six-man or more matches.

I'm glad those shows are bombing. They barely worked as a 1 show every couple of years cash grab so them thinking it could work as multiple shows a year endeavor was dumb as fukk.

They all gotta do better and stop being so fukking lazy :yeshrug:

Jake Lee leaving NOAH for NJPW?

Gabe Kidd wildin in NOAH. Twitter discourse is that this was a great match

This seems really dumb on NOAH's behalf. THe most high profile match of the year for them, and it's only available to buy in FOUR countries?

Jake Lee is average as hell. All Japan and NOAH tried to make him a real main eventer and both couldn't. If he goes to New Japan they better think of him as a mid carder/occasional challenger.

The problem is that NJ already has too many people with that profile.

Thoughts on the G1

Shingo being in it makes it obvious (if it wasn't already) that he isn't winning the Owen. Watch it be Dragon vs. Dragon in the first round of the Owen at the Forbidden Door PPV

Block A...

If neiter Shota, ZSJ, Gabe Kidd advance from block A, what are they even doing at this point?

Shota should be a future top star. ZSK should be one now but NJPW seems hell bent on him being a mid carder. Gabe Kidd has future top-gaijin-in-the-company potential

Callum Newman needs to be the guy advancing out of the play-in tournament. Other than name recognition for some of the others, tehre's literally no point in having any of the others make it out of the tournament.

But semi-washed Naito is in this block so he'll probaby advance. I wouldn't be shocked if Shingo advances, they still need a star name to be in the knockout stage. That one spot for Shota, ZSJ, and Gabe Kidd though.

Block B...

If at least one of the people that advances isn't Tsuji, Narita, or Uemura, what is the point? Three people they need to be fully committing to trying to make top stars.

Takeshyta is probably the best wrestler in this whole block, maybe the whole damn G1. It will be interesting to see what they do with him. If he was committing to New Japan for multiple years, he would be the most obvious guy to have win the whole damn thing. But as far as I know he's not so can't see him advancing.

Oleg Boltin needs to be the guy that comes out of the play-in tournament for all the same reasons as Callum Newman should. And they've already belted him up, it's obvious they see a bright future for him,

They'll likely have David Finlay being one of the people that advances. Perhaps El Phantasmo too.

At the end of the day, whoever wins it needs to be one of the young guys like Shota, Tsuji, Narita, Uemura, etc. that New Japan desperately needs to get over as a top star.
