The fact these self admitted "former military" are finding my post problematic is extremely concerning to be honest.
These dude have normalized rape to such a degree that suggestions on how to stop it are more triggering to them than the act of rape itself.
They came in a thread where its claimed 60% of rapes are committed by soldiers, and went on the defence instead of acknowledging that there is something wrong with them raping people.

I was stationed at Kadena back in 07/08 and it was a problem then. No matter how many times they put them cats on base restriction, ain’t shyt gonna happen. They gotta make an example out of someone or the Okinawans request they leave the island. There’s literally no need since it’s a pink light district (or used to be) right around the corner from the base or all the bath houses/massage parlors right outside the gates

"we get p*ssy" is not the same as attacking your point of service members being isolated and sex starved and thus resorting to rape as an outlet.
unless you got me on ignore or something i've addressed every point you made and been extremely deliberate in saying that there is no excuse, okinawa specifically has been problematic for ages, and any myths about forced into abstention, separated from family, etc are false too. if anything guys in here stated that known dirtbags seek out okinawa specifically.
So why is it you think these people commit rapes while on active duty, but not when they are back home? Peer pressure? Japanese women are asking for it? Whats going on to cause soldiers to be the primary source of rape in Japan?

As I said from the start - they're scumbags. Its not lack of family, they have that. Its not lack of sex options, they have that too. Its not a repression issue at all, its a power function like almost all other rape combined with the fact that service members can hide behind institution or straight up leave before charges catch up with them. If you want to hide behind certain institutions, that institution must do a better job of not being a barrier to victims. If you're a scumbag, it makes sense to search out places to be the biggest scumbag you can be. And believe it or not, many service members also despise working alongside them or having their privileges restricted because scumbags keep thriving.
That's why Okinawa is a tumor and has been for generations.
Plainly speaking its a lot less likely that a person who can't speak English or navigate the base's reporting structure will be able to report them in a way that demands the posts full attention. What separates Okinawa from other bases and posts is what others have been saying - a general unwillingness to address it at the level required. These trends have been directly addressed and substantially curved at posts all over the world.
Okinawa is the problem it is because the command hasn't faced enough consequences to force them to uproot their entire process and start from scratch. Not one person in here has said "Japan is wrong, leave the Marines alone".

She was found dead in her room. No explanation as to "why." No drugs or alcohol. I looked up the ship she was stationed on and read about lots of sexual assault complaints from some young women speaking up for other ladies.
Knowing my coworker and her hubby, their kid was definitely Type A and would not have stood by when shyt was going down. I still believe some fellow soldiers offed her for talking and covered it up.
